To everyone who sees them, the new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) images of the cosmos are beautifully awe-inspiring. But to most professional astronomers and cosmologists, they are also extremely surprising—not at all what was predicted by theory. In the flood of technical astronomical papers published online since July 12, the authors report again and again that the images show surprisingly many galaxies, galaxies that are surprisingly smooth, surprisingly small and surprisingly old. Lots of surprises, and not necessarily pleasant ones. One paper’s title begins with the candid exclamation: “Panic!”
Why do the JWST’s images inspire panic among cosmologists? And what theory’s predictions are they contradicting? The papers don’t actually say. The truth that these papers don’t report is that the hypothesis that the JWST’s images are blatantly and repeatedly contradicting is the Big Bang Hypothesis that the universe began 14 billion years ago in an incredibly hot, dense state and has been expanding ever since. Since that hypothesis has been defended for decades as unquestionable truth by the vast majority of cosmological theorists, the new data is causing these theorists to panic. “Right now I find myself lying awake at three in the morning,” says Alison Kirkpatrick, an astronomer at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, “and wondering if everything I’ve done is wrong.”

Much easier to comprehend a “without end” than a “without beginning”. There has to be a first cause, or some derivative - but then what caused that?
However, I do sense the period of existence of the universe is near infinity on both sides of the equation.
There are 3 questions I call the big 3:
1. How did anything come into existence?
2. When does time begin?
3. How can there ever be an end boundary for either time or space?
As you ponder these questions they all lead toward infinity, which leads to infinite universes...and well...I don’t like to go there because it induces a headache. LOL.
Dumpster pick up every day? Yikes.
All the males on that show were such pansies.
Penny was the alpha male...
How could the Earth orbit what had not yet been created?
So, is she a scientist or a social worker?
Speed of light. There is a dirty little secret for you.
Evidence accumulated over 150 years indicates the speed of light is slowing down.
So what did the “scientists” do?
The re-defined the speed of light.
They took something that was previously thought to be a constant. Something that did not change. And then they CHANGED its definition.
So a big clump surrounded by infinite nothingness. Sounds about right. /s

The agony of defeat for the all knowing when they find out they were WRONG
“...he’s groovy...OK, she’s groovy...Wait a second, that one’s not groovy!”
Different album, but a good bit nonetheless. I’d have to go in for regrooving myself now.
“Dumpster pick up every day? Yikes.”
Eh? Probably a slight exaggeration. :) But when you’re trying to enjoy a chance to sleep in it sure seems like it.
Well, I thought seasons 1 thru 4 were pretty good, after that it still had it’s moments, but the decline accelerated the longer it was on.
Oh, wait, this about actual science stuff. Nevermind!
To get all the answers, you would need to know what God used to create all things. I don’t believe He used our Physics and sciences.
There IS a dog. His name is Clifford!
God spoke , all you need to know IMHO.
God bless Fred Hoyle!
Lemme see if I understand..
In the beginning, there was nothing...
Then, it exploded!??!?!?
I have often thought that the background radiation could/should be explained in other ways than big bang origin. But it fit the narrative so. . .
ya know I am surprised you never beat on APOD... I mean 95% of the pictures are fake and its obvious the faker has absolutely no concept of perspective. so one would think you would be over there beatin those threads up like no tomorrow... I’m puzzled...
(secular humanist morons)…following the first explication of the Big Bang theory by a 20th century Belgian Catholic priest, Georges Lemaitre.
