"Nothing Changes Today” – Lawless NYC Mayor Eric Adams Promises to Ignore Supreme Court Ruling on Concealed Gun Laws

ABC 7 New York reported on the verdict:

The justices’ 6-3 decision is expected to ultimately allow more people to legally carry guns on the streets of the nation’s largest cities – including New York, Los Angeles and Boston – and elsewhere. About a quarter of the U.S. population lives in states expected to be affected by the ruling, the high court’s first major gun decision in more than a decade.

The ruling comes as Congress is actively working on gun legislation following recent mass shootings in Texas,New York and California.

Justice Clarence Thomas wrote for the majority that the Constitution protects “an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.”

In their decision, the justices struck down a New York law requiring people to demonstrate a particular need for carrying a gun in order to get a license to carry one in public. The justices said the requirement violates the Second Amendment right to “keep and bear arms.”

Tyrannical and lawless New York City Mayor Eric Adams made an announcement following the release of the ruling.

Adams told New Yorkers, “Nothing changes today… It ignores the presence (sp) and it endangers our future.”

“It was specifically about his city, NYC.”

Incorrect. Both of the individual plaintiffs reside in Rensselaer County, which is located in upstate NY across the Hudson River from Albany.

Communist governors and mayors will openly refuse to follow the decision, and Communists in the DOJ will encourage them to do so. In short, by doing this the Communists are openly declaring war. They might get their wish...

It also eliminates qualified immunity. Plaintiffs lawyers will love this since it appears to be NYC policy as well as an intentional disregard of constitutional rights. So you have both deep city pockets and every official in NYC who violates those constitutional rights being liable.

Throw him out of office or in jail if he breaks the law.

An American tragedy that this law was struck down by the supreme court!

Ever since this law was enacted in 1911 there have been ZERO gun deaths in New York! Well zero or around 100,000.

I forget which. Regardless of the exact number: tragedy...

They think they can just ignore the Supreme Court.

I hope that the next president, whether it’s Trump, DeSantis, or someone else, will have the city and state officials who are defying this ruling arrested.

I think the mayor made a big mistake. I'm sure the courts would have been accommodating in allowing time for non-compliant jurisdictions to get their affairs in order. The mayor just indicated that he requires no accommodation because he will not comply. It's time for someone affected to seek mandate from a lower court and an injunction against any law enforcement agency from enforcing the unConstitutional law.

Is the mayor suggesting that New York city has become an autonomous zone like Seattle?

Has anyone heard from Governor Nuisance in California? This could be fun.

"This says 25% of states will be affected. "

It's my understanding that the six states in question contain 25% of the U.S. population.

June23th doesn’t sound right.

Polite Society Day

"An armed society is a polite society" R. Heinlein

or Civil Society Day
or Civics Day

To me these imply that carrying is a civic duty for those who are so inclined. It'd be a step toward dispelling the claims of the opposition that "guns" are evil: no, it's some people who are evil. Instead, they should give a mantel of responsibility and respect to people who carry for the purpose of creating a polite society.
