Friends and Freepers, since collectively you know everything there is to know I wonder if any of you have experience with debilitating pain from hip Joint bursitis? Nothing the doctors have tried so far has worked. No arthritis involved.
Are you taking Statins?
I tried stretching, acupuncture, massage and synthetic fluid injection before giving in to hip replacement. But it was arthritis for me. They all gave me some temporary relief but eventually the pain returned. Good luck I know it’s tough.
I had knee joint bursitis. I minimized walking and it went away in about a month.
You have my sympathy as bursitis is painful.
You have probably read a lot but here is one article that
may be of help. Good luck.
Graston technique worked for me...took 3 sessions with my chiropractor
How much conditioning of your core (back and abdominal muscles) do you do?
It’s just a theory, but I wonder if it wouldn’t be beneficial if you tighten and strengthen up all your posture and mid stabilizer support
My Chiro (the gentle kind) recommended a magnesium/potassium combo supplement, and said to stop stretching, and take multiple, short, slower walks instead of long walks. I kid you not, the pain is 95% gone. It’s feels like a miracle.
I dont know what I have in my knees but Vitamin D seems to help when it flares up.
I have started exercising in the pool. Less stress on knees.
every physical therapist I have been to emphasizes those muscles to deal with all kinds of body ache issues in various parts of the body.
It makes sense
And for knees look at your feet. I walk on the outside of my feet and it affects the stabilization of my knee. It’s better when I use foot inserts to counter it.
I am tempted to try a pair of those OOFOs.
i hadnt heard of those ..will have to investigate.
Look at the bottom of you well worn shoes to see your walking pattern and where you have issues. the podiatrist had me buy some expensive inserts. I wear them in house shoes
those inserts you buy after standing on that machine at walmart etc also seemed to help my knees.
Best advice on the basis of thousands of hours of research:
Take all actions pursuant to eliminating external causes of systemic inflammation.
If you’re unsure how to accomplish that feat, consult a Naturopath.
Prediction: Upon your self-imposed ‘treatment’ you will notice an abatement of discomfort/pain within 2 weeks, improving thereafter.
Assuming that you’re ready to make the compulsory compromises pursuant to that goal.
Despite my own best efforts, the virus compromised a component of my health, leading to gradually increasing joint pain (some bursitis-like, others arthritis-like). I’m currently enduring a self-imposed regimen which gave me relief - exactly as I outline in my book and as I stated here - within 2 weeks (improvement was actually noted the first week).
‘If’ it has any bearing, you will know immediately that you’re on the right path, regardless of whether or not you understand the mechanism which underlies the symptoms.
Best of luck (from the heart).
amazon sells those shoes so you can order them and try them on and then return to their local center if they have one near you. Kohls used to take their returns..might still.
I have degenerative bilateral lumbar stenosis. It was exacerbated by a car accident I had a few years ago. My pain management doctor prescribed muscle relaxants and also did cortisone shots in the spinal canal - that worked great! For a few weeks.
He also told me that aquatic therapy would help, which I’ve been doing, and the pain is very much reduced. He also recommended weight loss, and so far I’ve trimmed off 82 pounds.
I see my chiropractor once a week and she keeps things aligned.
My interest in the OOFOs is that they claim that walking in them helps with back and joint pain. I tried on a pair once, and I do not believe I would need my arch supports as the arches in OOFOs are quite pronounced. At the time, I could not decide if I wanted to spend so much on a pair of shoes that would probably wear out quickly.
weight loss is a big thing for pain management on joints.
I really think deleting sugar in your diet would help but I just haven’t done it.
For those that don’t have a gym that has a pool I do a lot of my exercises that I did with physical therapists in the petri dish of the whirlpool. Also, wet sauna helps me. Most at my gym don’t use the wet sauna. The dry sauna might help but I never use it. too crowded.
By the way, you can use the typical pool handle on the deep side for pull ups. I do front and back. I am not even sure I could do one out in the gym. Helps with upper back and shoulder pain
if you go to amazon and search around you can find some cheaper than the website. It’s a pain. Depends on size and color.
I’m going through hip and lower back pain now. L5 vertebra is pinching the nerves. Hip pain is not going away after a month of meds and home rest. Pain management was an additional 2 weeks before any additional meds or corticosteroids, and 6 to 8 weeks of PT.,with MAYBE some relief. My back Dr. is going to replace the L5 and is confident will help the hip. Dr. believes I should be back 90-100%. Pain management is just delaying the inevitable surgery. Prayers for all.
Roll-on lidocaine. A lidocaine cream is also available. Major stores have their own store brands of both.
Diclofernac Sodium Topical Gel, 1%. This is prescription strength but available over the counter in store brands and as Voltaren. A pill version is available only by prescription. The gel is kind of pricey. It does not provide immediate relief but must be used several days before real relief.
I had severe pain in both shoulders for well over a year. I tried herbals, rubs, etc., and everything short of cortisone shots. The above 2 items have provided the best relief.
