The people that run the cranes at those ports make well over 100k, why would they quit those jobs?

Supply chain is down.

I drove from Kannapolis, NC to Asheville and truck volume was probably down at least 50%.

Hwy 74 through Shelby was extraordinarily quick. No big rigs.

Something is different.

The Marxists and Greenies think the West’s standard of living is too high. This is how they intend to lower it.

Are there any builder or remodelers out there who can chime in? Friends who are contractors are saying they buy up what they can when they can because they’ll never know when they will need something but cannot find it.

what do you mean EVEN the liberal media? Let me tell you something. The liberal media, esp CNN, create fear and panic in order to get viewers.

They purposefully lie and create fear.

There is definitely something going on. I don’t buy the excuse that there are not enough workers or that pandy lockdowns are limiting supplies.

It seems more like there are deliberate shortages being created at choke points that are then rippling through the supply chain creating a sort of timed release crisis.

Only governments could do that.

I wonder if it’s nation states feuding with each other, China and the US, a kind of economic warfare that they just don’t want to be public, so they are keeping quiet about it.

Maybe the govs are hoarding these choke point materials, thinking that there may be a conflict soon and they want to be pre-positioned well, sitting on all the computer chips and equipment for electrical substations, etc.

Or, maybe they are working together on it, part of a green new deal global governance initiative.

Regardless, the story is going to get bigger and bigger and everyone is going to feel the pinch if things don’t turn around soon, of which there is not only no hint of evidence is happening, there isn’t even talk of a plan.

For the past year, the coast of Southern California has been home to dozens of hulking container ships moored offshore as they await entry into the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the busiest port complex in the United States. From the shore, the scene resembles a naval invasion. The cause of the backup, say port officials, is strictly-enforced covid restrictions at the ports, including those in Asia, as well as unprecedented demand for goods from China, South Korea, and other Asian exporting countries.

So many ships are awaiting entry into the ports that all of the contingency anchorages set up along the coast are filled, and many ships have been ordered to drift along the coast, something that has never happened before. “The scarcity of anchorages,” says Kip Louttit, executive director at Marine Exchange of Southern California, “is due to the fact that as the coast extends southward towards Dana Point, the shelf drops off quickly into waters over 250 feet. We’re having the ships drift because we’ve run out of water that is shallow enough for the ships to physically anchor,” he says.

The implementation of COVID restrictions have caused many of the problems at the ports. For example, officials noted that every shift change for port workers requires new protocols, including the cleaning of crane compartments and equipment, daily health screenings for staff, and other inefficiencies caused by social distancing measures.

So the shortage is just as much manufactured as the virus.

“Things are particularly bad at our ports. Right now, there is a backlog of approximately 500,000 shipping containers waiting on ships off the west coast waiting to be unloaded… “

Are we sure they’re full? They’d be sitting there too, if they were empty, if China had decided to ‘send a message’ to the West, to let us know who is the boss now.

Maybe a complete collapse of the system can bring about a dramatic attack on widespread corruption.

I cannot see how the country continues unless the whole thing is torn down to the ground.

At last report, hundreds of ships are waiting outside US ports on both the east and west coasts. It should be pretty easy to find out why.
