Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police in the contested city of Jerusalem have escalated into a broader conflict.
The confrontation, sparked by tensions old and new, threatens to deepen the region’s turmoil.
Jerusalem has also seen regular clashes over the past week between Palestinian residents and police who have been blocking Palestinians from sitting on the steps of Damascus Gate. In an unofficial Jerusalem tradition, thousands of Palestinians sit in the area following nighttime prayers during Ramadan.
Police have deployed water cannons and stun grenades to disperse crowds while rioters have hurled stones and set off fireworks at cops.
The Islamic holy month has long been a flashpoint for violence between young Palestinians and Israeli security forces.
But fights between Jewish populations and Arabs are also one of the main concerns in Jerusalem as many young people choose violence to solve their disagreements.
One video that was sent to our redaction comes directly from Jerusalem and it shows a young Jewish Israeli as he is attacked by three Arabs. The intended victim is a karate black belt, but according to our source, the attackers didn't know that fact.

Israel is experiencing its worst communal violence in years while rockets are being launched on both sides.
Hamas began firing rockets toward Israel on Monday evening after the militant group issued an ultimatum to Israeli police forces to leave the Al Aqsa mosque complex and other areas in the contested city or else face attacks. The cross-border clashes are the worst since the 2014 Gaza war, with Hamas sending hundreds of rockets toward central Israel.
Some of the first rockets were aimed at Jerusalem, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said was a red line. Since Monday evening, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have launched at least 1,750 rockets toward Israel, which has responded with aerial and artillery attacks that Palestinian medical services say have killed 122 people, including 31 children.
Israel says it has killed dozens of operatives of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Gaza’s second-largest militant group. Six Israelis, including one child, have died in rocket attacks, and one soldier was killed by an antitank missile.

I have friends in Israeli special forces and Yamam - Itay Gil to name drop one. If it had been him, brains would have been smashed in, with blood everywhere - and the first offender permanently disabled. This isn’t the same “Krav Maga” that they employ. In fact, I doubt it’s KM at all.
Krav Maga master would take down a Wing Chun master in about 2 seconds. Wing Chun has rules, Krav Maga has only one: win at all costs. Wing Chun might be an Olympic event, but Krav Maga can never be because it is aimed at killing the opponent
