An unprecedented water receding event took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia on March 29, 2021. Scientists associate this phenomenon with a rare occurrence…
And suddenly the water disappeared in Dubrovnik, surprising many beachgoers and residents of the ancient city on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia.
‘Where did the water all go?‘, ‘Do we have to fear a tsunami?’ and ‘Is this normal?‘ asked many local eyewitnesses…
They probably recalled the 1667 devastating earthquake that destroyed the entire city.
Similar low tides were recorded across the Nin lagoon, one of the largest in Croatia. In the area, the low tide was so large that some islands could be reached by foot. The sea has disappeared completely… the sea became land:
According to scientists, this phenomenon has never occurred along the coast of Croatia.
The disappearing water event has been associated to the full moon and a small amount of precipitation, which in combination leads to the largest oscillations in the ebb tide.
Earth wobble Using satellite data on how water moves around Earth, NASA scientists have been able to find out exactly how and why does the Earth wobble.
When the Earth rotates on its spin axis — an imaginary line that passes through the North and South Poles — it drifts and wobbles. These spin-axis movements are called “polar motion” in scientific parlance.
NASA scientists have computed that the measurements for the 20th century show that the spin axis drifted about 4 inches (10 centimeters) per year. Over the course of a century, that becomes more than 11 yards (10 meters).
NASA scientists have broadly categorized three processes that are responsible for this drifting if the earth. The three processes are: contemporary mass loss, glacial rebound, and mantle convection.
“Yugoloar Slobonah, a spritely 354 years old, recalls drinking a cup of hogwash when the first news of the disappearing tide hit town...”
OK, it’s only the first day of the week, but I bet this comment wins the internet this week!
Precession
LOL!
Those that can, do...
Never is a pretty long time.
Sorta half right. Tides are caused by an imbalance between gravitational and centrifugal force. Centrifugal force and gravity only balance at the center of mass of the earth. When the moon, or sun is overhead (and they always overhead somewhere), on the surface gravity is stronger and centrifugal force weaker than average, so water flows in the direction of the attracting body. When the moon or sun are on the opposite side of the earth, we are moving on a larger lever arm, and centrifugal force is stronger than on average, and gravity is weaker, and water flows away from the attracting body.
“[cow flatulence] is now lowering the sea level. It can do anything!
Not sure if others recognize your image, which I believe is from the 2004 Christmas Tsunami, but it’s incredibly scary:
As the tide rushed out, sucked in by the tsunami, tourists rushed towards the beach to see and photograph the odd occurrence.
Meanwhile, an the Sentinelese and other tribes living in the Andaman islands directly in the path of the tsunami, recognized what was happening. likely retreated to higher points on their islands. From this article, the Sentinelese islanders were unharmed by the tsunami:
Global warming... Sorry, climate change, is so devious it ONLY lowered the sea level in Croatia.
Your illustration is nice but only tells part of the story. The true precession cycle takes 11,300 years. It consists of the grand loop, which your animated drawing shows, that takes 11,300 years. The smaller loops are described by the data in the table.
In other words the precession consists of the poles inscribed tens of thousands of small circles on the edge of the huge loop it inscribed across the heavens. Then there is the spiral up and down motion through our arm of the Milky Way, but we’ll save this for another time. As an aside, all of this motion has definitive impacts on global temperatures.
Correct. The graph represents the daily precession of the earth’s axis. That’s the one to be concerned about in the case of the water sloshing about in oceans. Precession will speed up or slow down to adjust for some events, such as imbalance, rotational timing, etc. Sometimes the rate of precession can change rather abruptly. The axis may even scribe a loop within the main loop! If something like that were to happened, then yes, the oceans would get sloshed around a bit, plates would move more in some cases, and earthquakes would occur. Luckily, the earth’s axis only varies by a few inches each year. The Bible speaks of events, like the sun standing still, etc., which may indicate something like the above may have occurred in our recent history by geological time frames.
Thought maybe Rosie O’Donnell had relocated and it shifted the earth’s mass.
Take a look at the Bay of Fundy tides pictures.
Under typical conditions, high tide at the head (the most inland part) of the Bay of Fundy is as much as 17 meters (about 56 feet) higher than low tide...
Look up “Procession”
‘Is this normal?‘ asked many local eyewitnesses... They probably recalled the 1667 devastating earthquake that destroyed the entire city.
Uh, they probably didn't. :^)

Bad move, ladies.
Fascinating graph. Makes me wonder if the earth will eventually flip over.
It also makes you wonder how much the “wobble” affects the molten interior.
More earthquakes? Volcanoes?
There’s still a lot that we don’t know about the workings of our planet - despite what Al Gore says.
