Former President Donald Trump has released a statement following his acquittal on an article of impeachment for “incitement of insurrection.”
Trump was found not guilty on Saturday.
“I want to first thank my team of dedicated lawyers and others for their tireless work upholding justice and defending truth,” the statement began. “My deepest thanks as well to all of the United States Senators and Members of Congress who stood proudly for the Constitution we all revere and for the sacred legal principals at the heart of our country.”
The statement continued on to say that “our cherished Constitutional Republic was founded on the impartial rule of law, the indispensable safeguard for our liberties, our rights and our freedoms.”
“It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree. I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.”

at no point have I been defending mcconnel. I was simply pointing out what trumpjr took great pains to say, and, more specifically, to not say.
Looking up McC speak is last on my priorities.
And then opened his big mouth with that awful, unnecessary statement. Almost worth it that the rats have the majority so Mitch is no longer in charge.

I became rich by avoiding trying to be a purist.
43 republicans outweigh 7 republican primary candidates and that is what I go by because it produced the result I was hoping for.
McConnell is not the entire republican party and check his vote on Trump impeachment and how many conservative judges he stewarded through senate approval and get back to me.
If I had to face what McConnell had to face on January 6, I definitely would be thinking and probably saying the same thing.
McConnell did the right thing with his vote and let people know how he felt about it.

I figured it out! It is safely attacking a republican while hiding behind the anonymous keyboard.
Now if the attackers actually stood in front of Capitol with a signboard attacking McConnell or any other republican, I would have more respect for the attackers.

My lying eyes saw SEVEN Republicrats vote for impeachment without being thrown out of the party. My lying ears just heard Mitch McConnell attack President Trump AFTER acquittal.
I have yet to see ONE SINGLE Republicrat ask for the arrest and charges against Kamala Harris who broke the law by campaigning for and sitting as the Vice President when she's ineligible since she's not a natural born citizen. They didn't even bother trying to create fake documents like they did for Obama.
The congress has no clothes and the Republican half of the Uniparty colluded with the Democrat half to steal an election. Yet, we have people who swear their abuser won't smack them around anymore, that Lucy won't pull the football away, and that their votes mean anything.
first of all, the obvious (which has apparently escaped you). kamala harris isn’t a republican. also, the DoJ is a part of the executive branch, and DJT was president when she was running - both for president and VP.

Yes, indeed. Mitch only switched his vote to not guilty when it became obvious his side lost and they didn’t have enough votes to convict. That is why his statement after the vote again denouncing any vote fraud or election steal.
