The conviction of Trump would lead to the immediate implosion of the GOP. At this stage of their takeover, Mitch’s Chinese masters apparently find the illusion of an opposition party still useful.

They just voted to extend the impeachment trial. Dems want to bring in witnesses.

I hope Mitch doesn’t think this will save him.
He will be very disappointed.

“Mitch McConnell Says He Will Vote to Acquit Trump”
This might be a moot point by now, with that “Hail Mary” pass by the House prosecution team, to call witnesses.
The Senate trial is now destined to stretch into weeks, if not months, before resolution. Perhaps not a bad thing, as it makes it possible to not deal with a LOT of the nonsense that will be passed on party-line vote in the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile Joe Stolen continues to sign blank checks for his staff to fill in and publicize as “Executive Orders”.

Closing arguments at former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial were expected to get underway Saturday morning — but Day 5 started instead with House impeachment manager Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) asking to subpoena records and call a witness sparking fierce debate with Trump defense lawyer Michael van der Venn.
House impeachment managers now want to call Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler as a witness.
