Matt Gaetz was on with Bannon for the past half hour. The gist is they both think that "the best defense is a good offense" and that the centerpiece must be exposing the truth about the stolen election.
The GOPe Senate HATES this idea, and says Gaetz cannot do it while he is a sitting Congressman.
Matt Gaetz says that he will resign from Congress immediately in order to defend Trump in the Senate.
Part of me says not to honor the kangaroo-court charge with a defense.
And remember, Trump said, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard”.
And the New York Times reported this as, “TRUMP INCITES MOB”. So, it’s not like whatever defense is mounted is going to be accurately reported.

BINGO!! THERE IT IS RIGHT THERE IN A NUTSHELL.
They’ve all had ample opportunity to fix the problem, and they chose not to.
We need to stop using these backwards post-2000 newspeak Orwellian colors. Gaetz is in a Republican district. Red is Communist. Blue is the color of Conservatism.
So, when Leakey Leahey presides over the case where he will also be sitting as a juror, that’s not OK, either. Right?

The GOPe senators have said he CANNOT represent Trump as a sitting Congressman.
Hard to believe this when the same senators haven’t voiced disapproval for Sen Leahy being the judge.
The Constitution has no language to impeach a private citizen, thus Gaetz can legally serve as Trump's counsel, and in fact should press the matter to SCOTUS just to pull Queeg Roberts into the fray.
I can’t imagine him going up against Ivanka in the Senate primary, however. Perhaps her interest in politics is waning.
You have just described our nation's new political normal.
Don't take this personal, but one should look at Biden's appointees and his first actions in office. Observe his declining grasp of the obvious and measure the caliber an inclinations of his VP. The world shakes at the thought of Biden's friends and business partners becoming even bolder.
Then consider we are not quite yet 2 full weeks into what could be a 48-96 month event.

Obviously you didn’t take the time or effort to actually read the Impeachment Doc... there is assuredly the part about the 77 days leading up to Jan 6 where Trump continually stated the ‘election was stolen’.
That is what this IS about. Without showing the ‘receipts’ and having the country finally see the evidence, the Dims are coming after ALL MAGA peeps.

Trump could, and should, make multiple defenses: that the trial is both moot and improper.
