The AR-15 is certainly one popular firearm.
Simply put, the AR-15 the civilian version of the U.S. military’s M16. The only main difference being that you can’t fire in three-round bursts or full-automatic.
But while it’s just as versatile, accurate, durable, and downright dependable as the one trusted by the uniformed services, the one thing you can do with an AR-15 that you couldn’t dream of doing in the military is customizing it.

The 7.62 ammo loaded into 20 round magazines is the real weight issue. The rifle does not need to be more that a pound or two heavier. Mine is about 8.5# empty with iron sights.
I think the reference was to tightening the upper to lower fit.
Read many times that does little other than feel better not to have the wiggle.

Shoot it a lot, then shoot it some more. Don't waste your money on "upgrades" if the money you spend on them will have to be subtracted from what you have available for practice ammunition.
Because the most important investment you can make in any firearm you might have to trust your life to ... is trigger time.
Ditto on the spares, but once you shoot an extremely accurate rifle nothing less satisfies. Besides, it is cheap and easy to do.
