Well, this is something. Minutes after disappointing Trump supporters – and no doubt President Trump himself – by saying that his do-nothing FBI/DOJ has found no evidence of fraud that would be pervasive enough to tilt the outcome of the presidential election, William Barr announced that he is formally converting U.S. Attorney John Durham to a Special Counsel in his investigation of the origins of Spygate and Obamagate.
This conversion will help to ensure that Durham will be able to continue his work in a new Biden/Harris administration, complicating the hell out of China Joe Potato Head Biden since he is without doubt a key person of interest in Durham’s probe. It will also give Durham access to all the budget, staffing and resource privileges that come along with the Special Counsel designation.

Attorney General Bill Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham as special counsel to continue investigating the origins of the Russia probe in the next administration, Fox News has confirmed.
Barr appointed Durham as special counsel on Oct. 19—two weeks prior to Election Day.
Barr notified the Senate and House Judiciary Committees, in a letter dated Dec. 1 obtained by Fox News, that Durham would be special counsel.
“On May 13, 2019, I directed John Durham, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, to investigate certain intelligence and law-enforcement activities surrounding the 2016 presidential election,” Barr wrote. “Although I had expected Mr. Durham to complete his work by the summer of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as additional information he uncovered, prevented him from doing so.”
“In advance of the presidential election, I decided to appoint Mr. Durham as a Special Counsel to provide him and his team with the assurance that they could complete their work, without regard to the outcome of the election,” Barr wrote, adding that he appointed Durham with “the powers and authority of a Special Counsel” on Oct. 19.

Thus, as has been the case throughout his term as Attorney General, Barr presents those who support President Trump today with a mixed bag of disappointment about his department’s failure to act on major scandals in real time and hope that the future could still produce some satisfactory results on another front.
The refusal of Barr’s DOJ and the FBI to really get involved in the single largest election fraud in American history will be a stain on Barr’s and Christopher Wray’s reputations for the rest of their days on earth. But his move with Durham today could, if Durham does ultimately produce real prosecutions of the criminals who tried to fix the 2016 elections and execute a coup d’etat on American soil, help to redeem Barr to a large extent.
As always with Barr, you have to take the bad with the good.

So what is the difference between a do-nothing US Attorney and a do-nothing Special Counsel?
Maybe, a do-nothing Special Counsel gets a salary increase.

They have said Obama nor Biden is a target of the Durham Probe. Period.
Biden himself has little to fear nor does Obama. This is why you have underlings - plausible deniability.
The media will never report that Biden is a target of the probe. As I said on another thread, there are some powerful people in the Obama Administration who might have exposure, but I doubt it will ever rise above the case agents and maybe some “supervisors”.
The big fish will keep their day gigs on CNN and MSNBC and they have little to worry about. It might preclude Sally Yates from a big position, but the rest of them are yesterdays news to the left - they served their purpose.
The real special counsel I want to see if they pull off this election is the corruption probe with Hunter, James, and Joe. That would be fun!

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe on Tuesday revealed a bombshell allegation that Hillary Clinton ordered “a campaign plan to stir up a scandal” by linking President Trump to Russia in 2016 — and that then-President Barack Obama knew about her possible role.

Fox News’ Ed Henry reported Tuesday evening that Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell has declassified information calling into question the conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump.
Henry told Tucker Carlson on Tucker Carlson Tonight that the new information would suggested John Brennan, who headed the Central Intelligence Agency under President Barack Obama, “also had intel saying, actually, Russia wanted Hillary Clinton to win because she was a known quantity, she had been secretary of state, and Vladimir Putin’s team thought she was more malleable, while candidate Donald Trump was unpredictable.”
Former National Security Council chief of staff Fred Fleitz made a similar claim in an article on FoxNews.com April 22:
House Intelligence Committee staff told me that after an exhaustive investigation reviewing intelligence and interviewing intelligence officers, they found that Brennan suppressed high-quality intelligence suggesting that Putin actually wanted the more predictable and malleable Clinton to win the 2016 election.
Instead, the Brennan team included low-quality intelligence that failed to meet intelligence community standards to support the political claim that Russian officials wanted Trump to win, House Intelligence Committee staff revealed. They said that CIA analysts also objected to including that flawed, substandard information in the assessment.
On Tuesday, Henry said that he had obtained independent confirmation of the claims made by Fleitz in that report.
For three years, the received wisdom in Washington has been that 17 intelligence agencies concluded that Russia had interfered in the election to help Trump win. It then transpired that only four agencies had actually been involved.
The Senate Intelligence Committee, chaired by embattled Republican Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), issued a report last month that appeared to confirm the work of the intelligence agencies.
However, that conclusion may soon be contradicted.
President Trump has accepted the claim that Russia interfered in the election — though he does not believe Russia actually helped him win, and he has publicly cast doubt on the idea that Russia preferred him over Clinton, his Democratic rival.
Breitbart News noted in 2017: “[T]he Russians may just as well have preferred Hillary Clinton, who had given Russia everything it wanted while serving as President Barack Obama’s Secretary of State — from the ill-fated “reset,” to a surrender of U.S. missile defenses in Eastern Europe, to the sale of 20% of America’s uranium reserves to a Russian company closely tied to the Russian state.”
“This could be a bombshell,” Henry told Carlson on Tuesday.

It turns out that Igor Danchenko, the man the FBI suspected of being an actual Russian spy, initially provided the bogus information about the American, Carter Page, through a former British spy, Christopher Steele.
Through a couple of cut-outs, Steele had been retained by the Clinton campaign to dig up — or, alas, to make up — Russian dirt on Trump. Through his private intelligence business in London, Steele was known to be working for Russian oligarchs, while Danchenko was on Steele’s payroll.
That is, the Clinton campaign, and ultimately the Obama administration, colluded with Russians for the purpose of accusing Donald Trump of . . . yes . . . colluding with Russians.”
