General Mark Milley, another Never-Trump general and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, fired off a warning shot to President Trump during a speech on Wednesday.
Via CNN:
We are unique among militaries. We do not take an oath to a king or a queen, a tyrant or a dictator. We do not take an oath to an individual. No, we do not take an oath to a country, a tribe or religion. We take an oath to the Constitution. And every soldier that is represented in this museum, every sailor, airman, Marine, Coast Guardsman, each of us will protect and defend that document, regardless of personal price, Milley said during remarks at the opening of the US Armys museum.

Hey fellow just wait till Emperor Joe expects you to bow low and say Hail Caesar !!! to him...
Joe the Usurper...
Dont forget to bring tribute...
Sounds like the chairman is inserting himself into the government.
He should be sent packing.
That’s the oath for enlisted.
The oath for officers is:
I ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
I have no problem at all with what Milley said. I think people read into it what they want to. Or what they fear.
My bet: Milley is pro-Trump. Time will tell.
Jesus had a parable about that sort of behavior...Matt 18:28
Notice that Milley makes no mention of the president and Milley's relation to that office. It's as if he doesn't answer to the president.
Milley, you serve the Constitution by serving your commander, the commander in chief. If you don't like what the commander in chief tells you to do, you resign. That's how fulfill your oath.
You have no other additional powers.
Swinging from one of those chains hanging from the front of a MRAP.
Whatever the General intends in his statement, the Constitution offers states some guarantees of protection in Article IV Section 4 that have required action by US armed forces in past years, and could require them again.
Legislatures can require protection against domestic violence when they are in session and perhaps should do so when their Governors turn a blind eye.
Milley thinks he is being clever by mentioning the Constitution. But otherwise, his words echo military tyranny.
Back to the original topic, I looked up the speech on an Army website. He didn’t say anything like what this article implies. Are we done talking about court martial, Fort Leavenworth, tar and feathers, or lynching for this poor sap general now?
Yep!
Dems and Never Trumpers are screaming coup. So naturally the CJCS stokes those fires. Milley needs to face military justice for this. Directly injecting partisan politics into the military is a very dangerous path and he is doing this deliberately. Men have hung for less.
Milley mentions his oath and his relationship to kings, queens, tyrants, dictators and the US Constitution.
What leader type is missing from his statement about his relation to the Constitution?
Trump was right about these faggot ‘generals’ who couldn’t win wars anymore.
I’d say 70% of rank & file would ignore the political generals.
WTF are you talking about. There is no article except the General’s statement. I read that. Big deal. I agree with his words, but what the hell does that have to do with Trump unless you’re a never Trumper also.
I feel everyone is reading too deeply into that speech as it could be construed to support either Biden or Trump.
That general needs to have his day being court marshalled
How is this a swipe at President Trump? He’s not a King, Tyrant, or Dictator. It just sounds like a speech about America.
Mark- Clean out your desk tonight, your replacement will be on the job at 0600.
