Mail-in ballots are expected to hit a record level in this election. The president insists that they can’t be trusted. But many state officials say otherwise.
President Trump two weeks ago said his concerns about mail-in voting are being borne out by New York officials sending botched ballots to nearly 100,000 Brooklyn residents.
For months, Trump has claimed widespread mail-in voting amid the COVID-19 pandemic opens the door to fraud and is likely to delay the Nov. 3 results. Democrats generally say mail-in voting is proven to be reliable and secure.
New York is not among the nine states — plus Washington, DC — that are automatically sending ballots to all registered voters over Trump’s objections.
Ballots are being mass-mailed California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, and Washington state.
And last night a video surfaced and people online alleged voter fraud that is happening live on TV. Montgomery County Board of Elections continues to process thousands of mail-in ballots that voters have returned.
Vote-by-Mail ballots are opened by Election Judges. The process is referred to as the “canvass.” Canvass day three was held at the Plum Gar Recreation Center in Germantown on Tuesday.
Residents were also encouraged to see how the process goes via live-stream. Officials say the canvass process will continue as needed until all ballots are opened and scanned.

We contacted the Montgomery County Board of Elections for answers but we haven’t received an answer. The only logical explanation is that the examiners are instructed to properly fill in bubbles if the voter did not do a good enough job for the machine to recognize their mark, either that or this is a voter fraud.
In 2016 somehow people were wrongly instructed in Maryland to use a pencil. This caused the counters to have to go over the ballots in pen to make sure the machine could count it. Maybe some people still used a pencil or didn’t bubble it in fully but the video still looks fishy.

Unless ACB gets confirmed before Election Day it literally can’t be like Bush v. Gore in Florida. If that happens we have a full blown Constitutional crisis on our hands.
Even if it’s ostensibly to help out the voters, I still think it should be prohibited. There’s no way to be sure the examiners wouldn’t just help ballots they agreed with while letting others fail. If you have the ability to darken a bubble on any ballot and you choose not to for some ballots, that’s ultimately the same as destroying those ballots.
If the person does not submit a properly filled in ballot, too bad so sad. That ballot is not valid if you do not fill it out properly. There should never be any valid reason for an election official to ever mark on or alter in any way someones ballot.
Why are they marking ballots with anything?
Just like "punching" two holes for two candidates invalidates the selection for that office on a punch card ballot.
The latter is most likely how something like 30-50K votes for GWB were invalidated in Miami-Dade County in 2000, where the GOP Congressional candidate mysteriously ran 30-50K votes stronger than GWB did. Punch card machines that can punch up to 50 ballots at the time did the trick there.
The ones looking all over the place while they’re supposed to be looking down are cheating.

I agree with you. It should be left up to each voter, to submit a ballot that will be acceptable.
We use sharpies where I vote. Very easy to fill the bubble and can’t be changed.

Yup.
No pens, pencils, or marking devices of any type should be allowed near the ballot opening stations at all. PERIOD! If a voter cannot legibly mark the bubble on an optical scanner ballot, then too bad, it is what it is, the judge should not be permitted to “help it along.”
This is why I’m not voting early and not voting by mail-in ballot. The less time there is to handle my ballot before being counted, the better.
This is unbelievable!! Election judges WITH PENS!! There is NO WAY they should be allowed to have marking devices in a ballot counting area! Are ALL THOSE PEOPLE DEMOCRATS? If there is a Republican in that room they should be screaming bloody murder when an election judge is marking an incoming ballot! The one woman is camping out on a ballot marking 10 different races!
