I learned a couple of days ago that my office will be working from home "indefinitely."
I can't help but feel one reason for this decision is that HR and upper management does not want to deal with complaints about what some employee supposedly said to another, so to avoid all that, we are being kept apart.
I don't really blame them for thinking this way. I can't say I really trust some of my colleagues.

a state university or agency cannot legally fire an employee for his/her 1st Amendment free expression (especially regarding matters off the job)

Very good points! The Commie virus has helped corporations in many ways. Saving huge money by eliminating office space, travel and now law suits. Staying home could also help to rid them of most if not all of their HR staffs!

Not too big a step from being fired for saying X to being fired for refusing to say Y. I predict that that’s next.

She should look the president/chancellor of the university in the eyes and ask if their life doesn’t matter....

If you can get fired for free speech, it’s not free speech.
These cases need to work their way to SCOTUS

Would one get fired for saying All Black Lives Matter? Or for saying Black Deaths Matter?

Well, it is communist Massachusetts, after all.

Never discuss politics at work.
“________ Lives Matter” is as political as it gets. What’s wrong with people?

Reminds me of the time I was walking down a work hallway with a guy spewing out all kinds of politically incorrect things in a tirade. I said "Hey, you can't be saying this stuff here."
He replies "Well, I'm retiring in a few days!"
Me: "Well, I'm not! Give me a break!"

I know this is happening. My white granddaughter arrived back at her office (hot Florida), and innocently made the comment, “It’s so hot I can’t breathe.” A young white female co-worker then went and reported this to their supervisor, a black female. However, the supervisor likes my granddaughter and just said “stop it”.
You have to know stuff like this is going on all over the country.
