Good grief. The headline would be so much easier to understand if it said:
Over 99% of all COVID-19 deaths linked to underlying health problems.
Unfortunately, if your old and sick this virus is very deadly. It “finishes” the job.
I couldn’t find an explanation of how underlying condition was defined or determined.
But I did look at the plot they show of the daily deaths in NYC. I checked my Wikipedia source and it appears to be accurate. At least they agree.
For me, that is very good news. I have considered NYC as far and away our best test bed for predicting the course of this virus and, in particular, for estimating the real mortality rate. They just have the most people per square inch and the most cases.

Give it up moron. They include obesity as a co-morbidity. I’m guessing you would fall into that category since you sit around all day and re-post the same crap.
That is still 6 times more deadly than influenza.
Measles vaccinations are mandatory because of a 0.2% fatality rate.
Also, the number of people who are over age 60 or have underlying conditions is not trivial. 16% of people are over age 65 (I couldn’t find the percent over 60). Obesity is a comorbidity; something like 75% of people over age 25 are obese. Another comorbidity that increases the severity of Covid-19 is diabetes, which affects about 8.3% of the population. The thing is, there is a significant portion of the population who are in a high risk category.
That's in children, which is why they used to have measles parties a couple of generations ago. In populations with no adult resistance, the fatality rate is much, much higher. So, we've exchanged immunity by childhood contraction for immunity by vaccination.

They can stay at home and self isolate every other pandemic quarantine since the dawn of time. This is the first time everyone that is healthy has been locked down. The thugs and fools running our country locked down our entire country and cratered the economy. The entire civilization of the West has been locked down and things will never be the same.

70 million Americans are obese
35 million Americans have diabetes
68 million have high blood pressure
Assuming overlap, that means one third of American adults have underlying conditions.
Quarantines have existed through history. And people have done all kinds of things to try to stop pandemics.
People can spread this virus before showing symptoms. Viruses like that are hard to contain. With the (dubious) stories about many people getting it and not showing symptoms, the task of containing the virus becomes extremely difficult.
No matter what we do, nothing is ever going to be the same. Either we take an economic hit to save lives now and adapt to a new normal where we learn to live in a way that reduces spread of virus, or we do nothing and take the economic hit of millions of deaths as the virus spreads uncontrolled—and still end up having to learn new ways to live. There are no good options. What we must be vigilant about are the attempts to impose dictatorship that the left is currently engaging in.
Something like 80% of American’s have some underlying condition to start with, and then NYC is not like most of the country in that people there live cheek by jowl in crowded apartment buildings, public transportation, restaurants, stores, streets, and parks, etc.
