The corrupt media misses the real news, as usual. – In a wide-ranging interview with Laura Ingraham to be aired on Fox News Thursday night, Attorney General William Barr slams the corrupt news media for “waging a jihad” against hydroxychloroquine simply because President Donald Trump has spoken positively about it. This is the focus of headlines about the interview by media outlets both leftist and conservative this morning.
Here is an excerpt in a Washington Times piece about Barr’s HCQ-related comments:
Attorney General William P. Barr Wednesday accused the media of attacking hydroxycholoroquine solely because President Trump has suggested it could treat the coronavirus.
“Before the president said anything about it, there was fair and balanced coverage of this very promising drug and the fact that it had such a long track record, and soon as [President Trump] said something positive about it the media has been on a jihad to discredit this drug,” Mr. Barr said in an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingharam. “It’s quite strange.”
Mr. Trump has been urging federal health officials to make hydroxycholorquine more widely available as the coronavirus spreads, but others insist there is little evidence the drug will be effective.

The WashTimes also includes this bit of truth from Barr about the corrupt media:
“I think the president went out at the beginning of this thing and was statesman-like — trying to bring people together, trying to work with all the governors, keeping his patience as he got these snarky gotcha questions from the White House media pool — and the stridency of the partisan attacks on him has gotten higher and higher and it’s disappointing to see,” he said. “The stridency of the partisan attacks and the politicization of hydroxychloroquine has been amazing to me,” he said.

Barr also made the following accurate remarks as captured in a piece by SF Gate:
“I am concerned that we not get into the business of declaring everything an emergency and then using these kinds of sweeping, extraordinary steps,” Barr said. “But given where we were back in March, I think the president made the right decision.”
Barr noted the economics of the shutdown could cost lives. For example, he said, cancer researchers were likely at home now, not doing their critical work.
“We will have a weaker health care system if we go into a deep depression,” Barr said. “So just measured in lives, the cure cannot be worse than the disease.”

These are all very good, cutting remarks that make for nice headlines that attract clicks to media web pages. But they are also not the real news in this interview, news that is not included even in the report on the interview at Fox New’s own website.
To get that, you have to go view a Twitter thread by Washington Post reporter Matt Zapotosky. Towards the end of that thread, Zapotosky quotes Barr as follows:

Why is this news? Because in the past, AG Barr has always used speculative language regarding the origins of the Spygate operation run during 2016/17 by the deep state cabal within the DOJ and the FBI. He has always used qualifiers like “I suspect” or “we need to find out” when referring to his and U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation into what was an outright coup d’etat effort on American soil.
To now directly call Spygate “one of the greatest travesties in American history” and to overtly state that the spying operation James Comey called “Crossfire Hurricane” was started “without any basis” and “meant to sabotage the presidency” is new, much more assertive language used by a man who is always very careful in the language he employs publicly. This is, in other words, a dramatic change in messaging.
Now, anyone can read this any way they prefer, but I read this as Mr. Barr sending a message that the Durham investigation has uncovered proof of the cabal’s seditious operations that he is willing to bring to court. He would not be making such unqualified statements of what can only be classified as treasonous actions if that were not the case.

Liz, the information you provide here on FR is absolutely amazing, so I’m very much encouraged by your statement about Barr.
And all along, given the reputation of Barr’s pick to lead the Spygate investigation, I’ve believed the reason it is taking so long, coupled with the fact that not much about it has been leaked by the ENEMEDIA, is a very good sign that the snakes and scorpions wbo have thrived in the SWAMP of the Deep State are about to be exposed and hung out to dry in a carefully constructed steel net.

The unseen hand of Barr and Durham is all over the recent filings by Sidney Powell, Flynn’s atty.
These are the altered 302s that we have all been hearing about for the past year that nobody has managed to produce.
How did Powell suddenly come by them?
If one starts from the assumption that Mueller was mentally incapable of running his investigation and that Andrew Weissmann was in fact the guy in charge, and that the prosecution of General Flynn is being handled by Weissmann’s minions, everything begins to fall into place. Andrew Weissmann’s criminal tactics are all over the Flynn prosecution.
By exposing the corrupt prosecution of Flynn, Barr and Durham have not only an opportunity to bring justice to General Flynn, they help build the public narrative of a vast criminal conspiracy that included Andrew Weissmann and his enabler, Rod Rosenstein, James Comey (remember he bragged about setting up Flynn), and Andrew McCabe (“First we f*ck Flynn, then we F*ck Trump”).
And by channeling this evidence through Sidney Powell into the Flynn case, Barr and Durham get it introduced into the public domain through court filings. Plus, by having the evidence introduced in the Flynn case, the argument that Barr’s investigation is simply revenge by President Trump is shot to pieces. And who better than Sidney Powel to handle the gutting of Andrew Weissmann? She has literally written the book on his corrupt tactics: Licensed to Lie.
I now see Powell’s efforts in the Flynn case as only tangentially about exonerating and bringing justice to General Flynn. In a much more profound sense what she is doing as an integral part of the effort to expose the criminal conspiracy to subvert the office of the Presidency of the United States.
This seditious conspiracy is in fact an attempted coup d’etat. Barr and Durham — and now with the help of Sidney Powell — are without question handling the prosecution of the most important criminal case in the history of the United States.
In this construction, General Michael Flynn is fighting the last and indisputably most important battle of his distinguished military career: The battle to save our Republic.

Your points are well made, but I highly doubt that Barr/Durham are working with Sidney Powell at all in the defense of Flynn.
I may not have understood what you wrote, but such a ploy would be highly unethical given that “Barr” is prosecuting Flynn. It is his DOJ. If Barr/Durham had direct evidence of wrongdoing in the Flynn matter he would be required to submit it to the court and move for dismissal. That has not happened.
I do believe the Flynn case used the same tactics they applied to Crossfire Hurricane and it was the same bad actors.
Regardless, I am encouraged to see the change in Barr’s language and he is one who is usually very careful with his words. His statement is very pointed with no nuance. It is the first time he has made a declarative statement to my knowledge that shows he has reached the same conclusion we did long ago.
With that said, my rage meter pegged long ago so I will remain tucked safely into my pessimistic “I will believe it when I see it” safe space that so many other frustrated FReepers have found.

I’m thinking Barr might be taking lessons from Lindsay Graham in talking a good line and then doing absolutely nothing of value.

Nobody is in jail.
And one of the very best things that could happen to ensure his reelection is the indictment and arrest of at least a few of the ringleaders. My vote goes to Brennan; his tradecraft was always sloppy (he was an analyst after all) and this conspiracy was way too complicated by way more than half.
And the democrats are already whining about people having to go to the ballot box in November. They are parasitically demanding the entire country vote by mail.
