The link between unemployment and suicides will be a concern that has to be addressed while the majority of the population stays-in to duck the coronavirus pandemic
Even a pandemic cant shock the media out of its blinding hostility to President Trump witness this weeks absurd press eruption after he warned of a likely rise in suicides.
People get tremendous anxiety and depression, and you have suicides over things like this when you have terrible economies, Trump noted at a briefing, adding that he believes the isolation many Americans face thanks to social distancing will also lead to more mental health issues.
Theres nothing incorrect or even controversial in those remarks. But media outlets that would normally echo any concern about higher mental-health risks proceed to be outraged.
I wonder if the mainstream media will report the fact that more people have died from suicide in one county than people have from the virus in the entire state, we are talking about Knox County in Tennessee.
As the Federalist reported Knox County, Tennessee saw nine deaths by suicide within 48 hours this week as doomsday predictions over the novel Wuhan coronavirus panic an already anxious public and leave millions unemployed and isolated.
In Tennessee, the crisis is taking its toll on those who were not physically sick but who appear to have fallen victim to the virus anyway. As of this writing, more people have died from suicide in Knox County than people have from the virus in the entire state, where there have been 6 fatalities from the disease, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
That number is completely shocking and makes me wonder if what we are doing now is really the best approach, said Knoxville, Tennessee Mayor Glenn Jacobs. We have to determine how we can respond to COVID-19 in a way that keeps our economy intact, keeps people employed and empowers them with a feeling of hope and optimism not desperation and despair.
While it is unclear at this point whether the recent suicides were directly linked to the epidemic of the spread virus, their timing alone is strongly indicative, if not proof that they were. According to local Knoxville news station WBIR, the countys suicides over the span of two days this week equates to about 10 percent of last years total where 83 lives were lost to suicide.
The National Suicide Prevention Hotline has reportedly seen incoming calls triple.
Much of the media would rush to contradict Trump if he announced that the sun will rise in the east tomorrow. At a time of national crisis, its beyond pathetic.
The national suicide hotline is 1-800-273-8255. More resources are here.

Ive been to my local er this afternoon. Empty except for the usual gunshot victims. Stop spreading fear.
I’m really glad that my business is still going and that I can do most of what I do from home and via webinars. Unfortunately, I had to let one employee go (temporarily I hope) and one has self isolated with her 93 year old father. It’s all me right now so I’m too busy to get depressed. My wife, on the other hand, is ready to kill me...too much of a good thing I guess. LOL
But see, the media says .....
Not necessarily. You think people cheerfully kill themselves just to look cute in their open coffins at their funerals?
Stupid to compare the two.
No. If we keep people all cooped up in their homes with orders from the police to arrest them if they come out, if we cause a potential tens of millions to lose their jobs and fall into deep depression, and suicide rates, deaths from hypertension and stress and all kinds of deaths sharply increase, you think that's better than dying from coronavirus?
Yeah right.. The worlds hospitals, doctors and people dying in ICU’s are all in on the hoax, as you call it. /s
He could point out that...
“In 2020, 1,806,590 new cancer cases and 606,520 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States.”
Far more people have died from drug overdoses than decreased activity in services/cruises/vices.
Madame, are you telling me that you left the Republican stronghold of the East Side of Manhattan to live in a slum??
we are under a siege....
The wife has thousands of resident in her facilities and more have died from other causes than this dramabug. I think she’s had two die so far. That’s it.
I watched a documentary about a triple disaster in one spot in Japan.
1. Earthquake
2. Tsunami
3. Nuclear power plant explosion
A lady who lived through it said that 1600 deaths were caused by fear and making people move.
Desperation and despair is the Dems bread and butter.
If we don’t try to control the virus, people will die unnecessarily from many other causes because hospitals will not be able to give them adequate care.
Suicide is murder according to my religion. Thou shalt not kill. Period. I can’t believe conservatives are now making excuses for snowflakes to prove a point,
The more people that die, the better that the Rats like it.
Consider yourself and your community fortunate. My daughter is an ER Nurse at Ascension St. Francis in Milwaukee. Her story is quite different.
They are intubating so many people they are running low on supplies. Respirators are routinely doubled up with patients.
“In sections of the motorway system without speed limit it is common to be overtaken by cars or motorcycles travelling over 200 km/h (125 mph).”
Sounds like Texas. I mean, I’ve, ahem, never driven that fast in Texas, but I know I’ve seen people do it. And not on an autobahn which is designed for it.
“I think that Leftists want an economic and a psychological collapse.”
Absolutely. That is their goal. Chaos. Their goal is to make us believe in them, and believe they are the answer to the chaos.
Nope. I would say to naive people, though, that all of nyc is on the edge of a dangerous inner city. I no longer live there as my home page has reflected for a year and a half. I love where I am now but the inner city is still lurking.
Oh and stop spreading fear. Photos of puppets dont intimidate me.
