Over the course of Kobes 20-year-long career, he remained consistently silent on political issues, in a way that by the time of his retirement seemed wildly anachronistic. Bryants apolitical attitude reflected the individual-focused, Jordan-era status quo in which he entered the league, but it eventually made him out of step with his younger counterparts, who have largely taken up the activist mantle of older icons like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson. Todays NBA stars are eager not only to use their platform to amplify political and social causes, but to establish activism as a responsibility in its own right, as LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and others did at the ESPY Awards in 2016. Even prominent head coaches like Steve Kerr and Gregg Popovichwho are demographically more likely to be Trump supporters than liberal agitatorshave earned reputations for speaking out against police shootings and the Trump administration in the bluntest terms

I imagine that few alpha males (like professional athletes) voted for the Hildabeast over Trump.
Mixed bag to be honest. He did comment on taking the knee and I think he said some things about Trump but consistently over his career he wasnt going the way of todays nba stars and LeBron deep dive into politics. Made comments after his career was over but for the most part he was about helping others and the community
“Bryants apolitical attitude....”
HORSECLINTON!!!!
Kobe Bryant said he would kneel for national anthem if he were still playing
Kobe Bryant Criticizes Donald Trump for Causing Division and Anger
Agree. I’m not even a Kobe Bryant fan, can’t remember the last Lakers game I watched and don’t know why I spend my time defending him to a bunch of internet folks who obviously have no interest in the NBA anyway.
Bryant made a couple of comments on Kaepernick and the Trump-Warriors WH visit controversy. That was all. He was never in yo’ face woke like LeBron and many other pro athletes.
LOL. There you go again. Reposting the same 2 quotes from 2017. You got anything else from his 20 year career? You obviously don’t care about Bryant or the NBA. Why do you insist on carrying on about him?
“2017”
Only children and liberals claim something so much as 1 day in the past doesn’t count. 2017 was just yesterday and counts plenty.
OMG. Kobe Bryant was a Democrat? Shocking.
[I think a lot of black athletes are Republican, but they cant speak out.]
Bump
“Kobe Bryant Was The NBAs Last Apolitical Superstar”
That’s not news or anything else to write home about.
Except for being a DNA proven rapist on a hotel employee in Colorado— who had enough family money to come after him.
Just that one widdle flaw, liking to strangle women as he takes them doggie style-— it’s a dominance thing, esp. over white submissive women. Lot’s to confess in church, who with money has gladly papered over his.... history.
Sad to die in a crash, but the reality of the individual is not obscured by a tragic death, and shouldn’t be.
That’s been my thoughts on all of this as well
Public relations. Where truth is obscured for the benefit of the money making from death. Like an Elvis cult, ignoring his perversions or that he died of an overdose while on the toilet, morbidly obese and disgusting waste of a life. But a hero to trash as “their hope”. Utter bullcrap, and ignores his early musical contribution.
Old time WSM performer Alton Delmore wrote an incomplete biopic of his 1920s country music experience on the Opry and elsewhere. Title: “Truth is Stranger that Publicity”.
Kobe and his death and the freaking Church behind the donations and bullcrap... are a current example.
Tennis shoes?!? Jordan never called sneakers tennis shoes!
Very few. I mean how many pro athletes stated they voted for hitlery? Logic dictates those majority who kept quiet voted for Trump and men vote in general for men.
Thought he was a big bammy fanboy...
LMAO.
How interesting that among the many other posters here who share my POV over this, you continue to obsess over mine.
Back off. Now.
LOL. Back off???
I just noticed that one post was a near cut and paste job of a post you addressed to me. I can see you’d rather engage in personal attacks than “back up” your thesis. So, yeah, I’ll “back off.” So feel free to enjoy bashing a dead man at your leisure without comment from me. Adios.
