How come no one is talking about Biden rambling about how we should stay home at night and listen to the radio, record player, phonograph.....Victrola, High Fi, Graamphone, The Edison?
This stuff is great.
They can stay home and listen to the Fireside Chats.
You don’t say!? What a coincidence, I have a turntable too.
Reel-to-Reels?
I have called it a record player since I married a radio host 33 years ago.
Creola on my Victrola
Makes me feel like dancin’
Fall in love romancin’ the melody
Creola, Creola, Creola for me
-Jimmy Buffett
Amen, Joe. I mean nobody writes songs like
that Stephen Foster, right? Nothing beats lighting those whale oil lamps and grooving to his greatest hits like O, Susanna, My Darling Clementine and Jeannie With The Light Brown Hair while writing letters with quill and ink and hoping to be done in time for the Pony Express rider to pick them up later in the week.
“Phonograph”, isn’t that a Def Leppard song?
“We’ll call it ‘The Information Super Highway.’””
I’ll have you know I am a back panel comic book, mail away, certified expert in history!
It was first named “The Gossip Main Street”.
It didn’t become the Information Super Highway until some crazy Europeans were gonna try to name it the Chat Autobahn.
We figured Autobahn sounded too much like Audubon. And Chat was so informal...
Much debate and beer later, Information Super Highway was born. But that’s just a place holder.
It’s final official name is going to be...
The Grand Censor Index.
I’ve lived through 78s, 45s, LPs, R2R, 8T, cassettes, CDs, Ipods, Pandora, and MP3s. Of them, I most value my turntables and vinyl. For me, it’s akin to the Japanese tea ceremony. CDs are just for car tunes.
Nah, he never made the switch from the wax cylinders.
Careful with those Spike Jones records, Joe, they’re worth their weight in Metamucil.
I can't take the way he sings. But I love to hear him talk.
I’m older now and personally, I like references to the times when things made more sense.....record player, radio, cassette tapes.....bring it on...
Yeah, but there some classics: “Hawaiian War Chant”, “You Always Hurt the One You Love”, “My Old Flame”, “Der Fuehrer’s Face”, and “Horse Race (Beetle Bomb)”. My dad used to play them on an old turntable when I was a kid, and I got a kick out of them.
