CBS News has learned that a last-minute phone call may have saved "Empire" star Jussie Smollett from potentially being indicted. Last month, the actor claimed he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack as he walked home in the middle of the night. Two brothers have now told Chicago police Smollett paid them to stage the assault.
A source close to the investigation tells CBS News the brothers were set to appear in front of a grand jury Tuesday. But CBS News correspondent Dean Reynolds reports those plans were abruptly scrapped after a "Hail Mary" call from Smollett's defense team.

They blackmailed the DA. If the lawyer had counter evidence that could be presented to the grand jury in lieu of the testimony.
The lawyer obviously told the DA his political career was done if he goes after the Dems.

And in 2020 the attack on Smollett will be a “fact” used to attack Trump and racism on the right. It’ll be up there with Ferguson, Charlottesville, and Rosa Parks in the list of horrible things republicans do.
Rather than correcting these “facts”, the MSM will run with them. As AOC said “I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.” The people who think that way (concerned about facts) don’t work for the MSM. The “morally right” thing to do is to treat the Smollett attack as accurate regardless of the “precisely, factually, and semantically correct” evidence that it was a hoax.
So you get a threatening letter a couple days before...and go walking around at 2 am and tell everyone where you are besides? One brave dummy!
