In the modern day gun world the semi-auto pistols have a huge hold of the market for self-defense guns. But concealed carry revolvers can still hold their own for personal defense.
Revolvers can be a strong choice for concealed carry, as they’re reliable and easy to use.
Not everyone is a fan of a small semi-auto for concealed carry. However, there is a large fan base of shooters that will only look to revolvers for concealed carry.
If you’re in this group and interested in carrying a revolver for CCW, read on of the pros and con and see our picks of good quality revolvers for personal defense.
Pros
Here's a few reasons why revolvers are reliable, its the feeding and magazines. -You say there is no magazines on a revolver thats right.
Magazines in semi-auto pistols are the main cause of malfunction.
-Feeding works pretty good in semi-auto but when you’re plugging in hollow point rounds it does have its issues on magazines.
Revolvers don’t have any of these issues.

Downside
-A revolver holds less rounds than a semi-auto pistol.
Most revolver wheel a 5 round vs a semi-auto holds 6+1 at a minimum.
-The width on most revolvers are a little thicker than a popular CCW Glock 33 Gen4.

Probably one of the two or three most popular revolvers for concealed carry, the Bodyguard just won’t let you down. The hammerless design won’t get stuck in your pocket and the five shot capacity of .38 special ammo is useful for personal defense at close range less than 20-25 yards.
Taurus Protector
Who doesn’t want a small .357 revolver that can be used for CCW? Well, Taurus sure figured it out here. This small little pocket shooter only has a two-inch barrel. I carry a 9mm Ruger revolver daily since it’s small and I use their moon clips which hold 5 additional rounds, it’s easy enough to replace. If I can’t get the job done with 10 rounds I guess it’s my time.

I have one too but with summer coming I got an LCP II and find it to be more carryable. Much slimmer and lighter + 2 extra rounds. The trigger is much better too.

Ruger LCR in .38+P is a very good CCW platform. Yeah, it’s five rounds, but a speed strip (that holds six rounds) is a very handy companion.

It only takes 'one' properly placed round even with a '22'.

S&W Model 60 here. 5 rounds of 357. I use an oversized rubber grip, which is a little annoying for concealing but makes shooting 357 OK. The barrel is much slimmer than on most semi-automatics. It doesn't have as many sharp angles as most semi-autos, too. The trigger is far better than any striker-fired auto I've used.

Compared to a Glock 27, the J-frame has fewer rounds, is harder to reload, and a shorter sight distance between front and rear sights. OTOH, it is an outstanding "Get off me!" gun, easier to conceal and I don't see many scenarios where I would need more than 5 rounds. I'm not a cop and I'm EX-military and I'm often in bed by 9PM. Surprisingly few thugs descend on a hardware store at 10 AM...

My personal self-defense gun of choice. Taurus Ultra-Lite .38 Special Model 85. It's small enough to strap on my mountain bike when I ride mountain trails. I'm a small female so this one fits me.

I always take pictures of new guns for insurance purposes in case of theft and I record the serial number. I have had this one for about two years. I have owned several semi-auto's and never really liked them. I prefer a revolver for carry and a 12GA shotgun for home defense.

The big advantage of revolvers is that when you pull the trigger they go bang. No failure to feed or failure to eject. They just go bang.

I have a Taurus P85 hammerless snubbie in 38 special but the trigger pull sucks, it’s only 5 rounds and with the little snubbie barrel, accuracy and power mean it’s not much good beyond about 10 yards. My concealed carry will be my CZ 2075 rami. Yes it’s a bit wider and heavier but it’s 10 rounds of 9mm, it’s got more power and way more accuracy. I trust it’s reliability 100%. It has never stovepiped or had any other cycling errors and I’ve owned it for about 4 years now.

Also great backup to my Glock 19 (9mm, 15 shot).

For my wife and daughters, I bought them revolvers for the same reasons as well as these: Simple and reliable.

I’m old-school on this. Since being confined to a wheelchair at 64 years old, holstering and quick access is the prevailing issue. The only convenient point for me is the cross-draw position, tucked outta sight under my belly “dunlap” (a hard to avoid condition, in my condition). To avoid corrosion due to perspiration, I’ve broken out one of my earliest and sweetest firearms, a S&W 649 shrouded hammer .357 in stainless. I can go hours without even feeling its presence, because despite my paralysis, I do still have feeling down there!

Almost 40 years ago a friend, who was also a reserve officer, showed me that a short barrel revolver is actually easier to conceal than an autoloader. The cylinder may be thicker, but the overall shape of the weapon makes the whole thing much less likely to print.

I alternately carry either a .380 Ruger LCP (or, as my husband says, my Little Cute Pistol) or a .38 Ruger revolver. Depends on where I’m going. The .380 is so much easier for me to conceal. Women’s clothing tend to run too body skimming and not many places to conceal adequately.

I agree. When I carry my .38 I’m usually riding so I open carry. It’s not that obvious strapped to my bike. Anywhere else it goes in my bag but I want it handy and easy to get to when I ride.
