The list of Republicans who voted NO on the Tax bill makes a very clear statement about the future of their party in the Blue States. They are a dozen or so poor souls clinging to the old politics way of doing things. Knowing he had the votes to pass a tax bill that would destroy the states these people come from, Speaker Paul Ryan gave them permission to vote NO.
In old pre-Trump politics this would shield them from effective attacks and save their jobs; but those days are over.
The bill contains the greatest attack by a majority party on the minority party in at least 80 years. It will end the SALT State and Local Tax deduction from federal income tax returns.
This will mean those who live in what the media and Democrats derisively call Flyover Country will no longer be forced to subsidize the Democrats purchase of votes using their tax money.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called the SALT elimination a DISASTER for his state. Do we need more to convince us SALT is a great start for dismantling the Democrats shake down system of squeezing all Americans to pay for their vote buying schemes?
As time goes by and make no mistake it wont be a long time middle class MAKERS will abandon the 10 or so states owned and controlled by Democrats because the make up taxes (see things like soda tax) will be just too much to carry.
When this happens more TAKERS will arrive as they will be squeezed out of the other 40 states by things like workfare, food stamp cuts and threats of deportation.
The unavoidable result of these factors will be that Democrats will be sealed into 10 states that look like Hawaii. They will no longer be able to offer a threat to Republican power on the national stage.
In 2018 the Democrats will take back most if not all of the few Republican seats in these states and seem to be gaining strength; but it will be an illusion. The 2020 census redistricting will draw away congressional districts lost by the hollowing out Blue States and give them to Red States. Lost seats will be made up enough to maintain a working majority for the Republicans.
Enforcement of voter identification laws will lead to discouraged and financially destroyed Democrats quitting politics.
Deportation and voter ID enforcement will make Blacks the Democrats only reliable minority group.
This will result in Democrats being forced to support things like Reparations and a separate Black nation to bow to the radical leftists in the Black Congressional Caucus. It will be calamitous for the Democrats.
As taxes rise in Blue States to provide Democrats with the money to buy votes, industries like Wall Street and Department store shopping that do not need a brick and mortar location will find it much cheaper to move to a Red State.
When they awake to these factors Senate Republicans will pass the tax bill. They will come to realize that their hatred of Donald Trump pales before the opportunity for lifetime job security his tax plan presents to them.
In a best case scenario, instead of a whole loaf we’ll be lucky to get one or two slices.
If they don’t get something done they will have virtually nothing to show for an entire year. So I think they’ll pass pass something small, with a “promise” to make it better later on.
They love to talk about what “they are going to do” instead of what they haven’t done.
A highlight of abuse of taxpayers money.
Nothing like that occurs in the US.
I love how so many have become Democrats and liberals on this site. Higher taxes to Washington is now patriotic? Funny, no one ever questioned my patriotism when I was in Kuwait, Bosnia, Korea, or Somalia.
Oh, is that all? Ill drain the oceans while I am at it. Do you honestly believe that state and local governments are going to have pity on middle class taxpayers because the Feds raised taxes? Really?
If they want to lower or eliminate the estate tax, be my guest. I am not against lower taxes.
Not everyone can simply get up and just move. And quite frankly, I am tired of that simplistic and cynical reply. People have elderly parents to care for, children and grandchildren, friends, pastors, and homes they have built. They have churches they adore and support. People who are older have much more difficulty changing jobs and careers. The power to tax is the power to destroy. What you are advocating is that the Federal government should have the ability to destroy peoples live through taxation. So much for this place being a Conservative forum.
Ridiculous. That is money that has already been taxed
Complain to your democratically controlled state
So has the money I pay in State taxes.
If the GOP rams this tax increase through, I really dont care what happens to them.
That wasn't Obamacare?
No Republican voted for it.
Obamacare killed the 40 hour work week, and drove many middle class wage workers into two jobs to be made whole.
Obamacare collapsed middle class health insurance, and forced middle class families to purchase insurance with unattainable deductibles and paycheck-shattering premiums.

Supposedly, the top bracket is going up by 6% for income earners over $1 million. They are charging a 6% surcharge to take back the tax reductions on the first $45,000 or so of income.

Take it up with your state.
First, I thank you for your service.
Second, asking the Federal government to bear part of the burden of Washington state’s higher taxes is neither patriotic nor politically prudent. The fastest way for Washington to become a red state is for its people to come face to face with the actual cost of liberal taxes.
By the way: a deduction is an indirect subsidy.
The Fed is lowering taxes.
Your state is who is screwing you.
Florida sales taxes are deductible, just eliminating that deduction alone will cost me $2,500.
With this bill? No theyre not. The Feds are raising them. And millions of other peoples taxes as well. This is the exact opposite of what Trump promised.
By the way: a deduction is an indirect subsidy.
That is so Marxist. Keeping my own money is a subsidy? Since when? I have to keep pinching myself to believe I am really on Free Republic.
The tax code incorporated the state, local, and property taxes tax deduction in 1913 to prevent Double Taxation - which the Feds (back then) called immoral. Oh, how times have changed.
In the case of the SALT the subsidy in the form of the Federal deduction is truly going to your state. The fact that you’re aiming your anger at the Republicans for taking it away instead of even considering asking your state’s Democrats to lower your state and local taxes illustrate that point.
