Dear FReepdom,
Well, I'm on the virtual road again, lookin' for a job suitable for a high tech redneck as I camp out in a cheap motel and drive a rented U-Haul pickup truck in Gainesville, Florida.
I've already put in for a couple of jobs that are telecommute. But I practically got shanghaied into submitting an application to a company called ASML in Wilton, Connecticut.
On paper, at least, I might be able to aggressively jump into this job, which pays $70/hr as contract.
Which money is sorely needed if I actually went there. Multi thousand dollar apartments. That's serious green.
But I did an overview of the situation that I'd face. I've been on a serious Christian spiritual thrust, and I mean like I'm channeling Jesus so strong sometimes that it's like I identify right down to the guts with His manly redneck side. And I have written more than one gospel song in first person prophetic mode (laden with His promises, addressed right to the listener).
And that's a problem now, I foresee. Because I can already envision what will happen when I go into one of those etiolated New England churches, or what's left of them. This ain't yesteryear's Puritans, who would understand. When those Puritans died, nothing replaced them. Only the shell of their legacy, which is painfully worldly now. I saw it happen in redneck Gainesville, how much more in New England? They serve out little spoonfuls of tincture of Jesus when I wanna haul out a bucket of stronger stuff and say HERE! And I'd get rebuffed at least, if not kicked out.
And wealth is leaving Connecticut (for what that's worth, but it probably augurs worse taxes or else a bad bust).
And then there's the Sandy Hook shooting. That was well chewed over on FR, but what strikes me is the way they reacted to it. There was such a hush-hush about the local details that some have proposed that the event was fabricated. I don't believe that myself. My hunch is that Sandy Hook was so ashamed -- not grieved, as in the church shooting in Texas, but ashamed -- that they sanitized it. Which is why not even obituaries, something that a more Christian, country-minded folk would not have omitted. And shame is the obverse of pride. I wouldn't get along with those folks as the robust "humble redneck" at all! It would be stilted to an unreal degree.
That said, if I absolutely HAD to go to Connecticut, what on earth could a Redneck do in that Yankee land? Beside pine away wishing he was down south again?

Spread the word.
Raise a family in CT, teach them right.
Have them spread the word.
I think gospel is going to have to be grasped before “conservatism” will be. I think of myself as a traditionalist, which embraces classic liberalism too. Sometimes moral issues transcend political conservatism to me, but at the same time we can’t be having government be a nanny. It at best leaves the most room possible for private social benevolence.
You’re absolutely right (I first typed light, and that too).
If God has a niche for me in Connecticut... to Connecticut I will connect.
And my trying to figure out from generalities whether this is the place, is a vain pursuit.

A. Dont go to major cities much less NYC
B. Forget guns
C. Find good restaurants
D. Dont go
Yeah. Unfortunately the church I attend has the KJV only mindset.
Trust your gut.
And I wish you the very best of luck.

Thanks for the encouragement bro.
Thanks L. I know we haven’t already agreed. I believe we need to be ready to mount an assault, but it needs to be a spiritual one. The earthly one of guns isn’t always the thing. Sometimes it’s not men, but Satan, that is the appropriate target.
pale and drawn out due to a lack of light.
having lost vigor or substance; feeble
Sometimes its not men, but Satan, that is the appropriate target.
Sometimes being the key word.
Best,

And I’ve been knocking the devil left and right, recently. It was a big nuisance at first, but then the air began to clear and it began to dawn on me what God was trying to do.
“Present them with some sweet tea and prove to them that the south can actually do something right.”
Dont have to prove anything to the shitheaspd eastern pricks.
Well on the positive side, New England will be a little less libtard with your presence here.
For me, I do not stop for any reason in DE and MA.
Hartford was a shithole in the 60’s. God knows what it is like now.
True enough, but I don’t think we should be forever focusing our physical cross hairs on men. God might well say, as He said to Peter, “Stop.” And restore the gospel hearing of those that we would attack physically. (As it sounds to me, the cutting off and restoration of the centurion’s ear has a symbolic sense. It wasn’t just some random detail in the bible. Jesus’ actions carried symbolic meaning as well as literal meaning.)
It is a complex interplay and truly, listening to God is the only way to know how to go. But it’s the gospel gun that I would be shooting.
“Sometimes its not men, but Satan, that is the appropriate target.”
But he works by proxy through men (and women too).
I’d stay away from ASML and CT if I were you. Go west young man. A friend just got a nice software job in Phoenix.
Oh duh!!!! And I used to be a speling chammp.
I guess that’s my eyes getting more reddnecck.
True enough, so getting the two to part is the preferred method of the Lord. But it takes serious spiritual might.
