No, I was completely wrong. I should have kept my thoughts to myself.

It is Ulaanbaatar.

C’mon now. Norris ain’t got nothing but a dam.

It's also a town. It was built for the dam and some TVA workers but afterward it was developed into a model modern town by the federal government. Look it up you'll get a chuckle. Side note on Norris Dam. They built it yet my grandparents, mother, and uncle could not get electricity because TVA said it would destroy the scenic quality of Norris Freeway. They lived about 5 miles from the dam at that time on Norris Freeway.

Knoxville wasn't supposed to be the TVA HQ it was supposed to be Mussel Shoals, Alabama. I remember the old TVA HQ buildings in downtown Knoxville. My late uncle owned a small daytime restaurant right next to them called Walmacs and my aunt {his sister} was the fry cook. TVA employees gave them lots of business and even the big wheels at the time ate there.

Next time I'm down toward Loudon I might have a look see at that picture.

Funny story about beer and that Worlds Fair...

Margie Ison was weather girl on a local TV station...

Evidently, she spent opening day of the Fair at the Strohaus on the fairgrounds...

When she did the 11pm weather, she was weaving all over the place...Pointed at Nebraska and said, “The weather in Miami is........NICE”

Then pointed at North Carolina and said, “The weather in New York is.......NICE!!!”

They switched to the news desk and the anchorman was a minister...he had a “go to hell” look on his face....

The next day, they announced she had been on medication from a root canal..

ROFL

I worked for KIEE Knoxville International Energy Exposition which was the corporate name of the 82 worlds fair. I worked in maintenance in HVAC. All but two of the maintenance crew was U.T. employees except for a couple of us. I made $8 an hour just for walking around checking the chillers and walking through the pavilions.

Before the fair most of the property along the creek was the old L&N station and switch yard. When the creek flooded the Electrician and I had to put on rubber boots and go under the area where the robot pickle was and kill power to the Canadian and China pavilions and get out before the flood got us.

Along about late 1984 the House Hansen building which had served as KIEE headquarters burned down

Yeah the original was right and the end of the Henley Street bridge. I liked Pauls Market on Clinton highway back in the day. My first wife and cousins lived between Tillery rd and Schubert Rd on the hill behind Pauls.

I have been at Smokey Mountain Market several times when Archie Campbell would stop in late at night...

He would cut up with everyone there...Great guy...

Also, a lot of Tennessee football and basketball players would show up there...

Yes, but it is Ulaanbaatar. My mistake.

And yes, it's very cold there. All their climate control equipment would be in basements, for the simple reason that heat rises.

Not much of a summer, but brutal winters.

Very little clouds though. Mongolia is "the land of blue skies."

That means the nights are very cold, though. That and the fact that they are high in elevation. Ulaanbaatar is at 4,429 feet above sea level.

My first guess would be somewhere in Turkey. I’ll scroll down and see how close I am.

That picture reminds me of the view from my window when I stayed at the Best Western Tuushin Hotel. Definitely one of the upper floors.
