The Second American Civil War is gradually coalescing into an observable phenomenon. The lines are being drawn and people are taking sides in noticeable ways. As it now stands, we have something of a "cold war" going on as it once existed between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Espionage, intelligence breaches, clandestine black bag operations, fifth column saboteurs, and the like. But important questions remain: As the war continues, how will the conflict evolve? Will it escalate? If so, what will be the flashpoint that puts it in full motion? Will it turn into a full-fledged armed conflict? As the storm clouds gather, a short history retrospective might shed some light on things to come.
November 6, 1860, President Lincoln is elected President of the United States. South Carolina would be the first state to secede from the Union a mere six weeks later. In January, five more states would follow. In February, Texas votes for secession and joins the newly established Confederate States of America. A constitution is ratified and former Senator and U.S. Secretary of War Jefferson Davis is appointed President of the Confederacy. Lincoln has yet to be inaugurated.
One week after Lincolns March 4 inauguration, Fort Sumter is bombarded by Confederate troops. Union troops are forced to surrender. Virginia secedes days later. On April 19, Lincoln issues a Proclamation of Blockade Against Southern Ports that formally recognizes an insurrection against the Government of the United States.
In June, two limited military engagements in Virginia, the Battle of Sewells Point and the Battle of Aguia Creek are fought to inconclusive results. The war spreads to West Virginia, and Missouri, resulting in the first two Union victories. Confederate forces achieve their first victory in the Battle of Big Bethel in Virginia.
On July 21, four months after President Lincoln is sworn in, the First Battle of Bull Run becomes the first major battle of the war. The First American Civil War would continue for the next three and a half years.
Thankfully, our current conflict has not yet approached military proportions, anti-Trump riots notwithstanding. These are little more than angry tantrums from an infantilized sector of the population who understand nothing of survival and self-sufficiency. In military terms they dont even qualify as skirmishes. And these melodramatic posers dont come close to being a genuine insurgency.
All Americans should pray that it stays this way. And we should always remember the words of General William Tecumseh Sherman:
I am sick and tired of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell.
But make no mistake. There is a major fight coming. Perhaps it will stay in the courts, and among our legislators, perhaps not. Is reconciliation possible? There may be a remote chance of that, but it looks more and more like each side of the growing divide have no intention of backing down. America hasnt faced this kind of disunity since 1861.
While you’re at the link, check out the story “Dry Hole.” I think you might find it interesting.
Liberals really don’t believe people they hurt will hurt them back because they have a higher intellect and are politically and morally correct.
Of course the radical fringe who are into violence accept the reality of retaliationa and are actually looking for it as a trigger to spur the millions of people on the left who they think are behind them. That’s how they foment riots.
Then when some college girl gets a broken nose they have disappeared into the night and the sewers.
It was the nuns that ensured I learned that basic grammar rule. Boy howdy did they ever! < BG >
I’m in MA and use both
I would say “A history lesson” but would also say “An historical event”.
I didn’t realize that I did that until just this moment. :-)
.
I will.
You should put the link to the Project Delta website in your FR profile so more people would see it!
I see your point.
You don’t think China (and Russia) will arm them? Train them? And hope to prolong it and have as many casualties, on both sides, as possible?
Let’s hope not.
I mean, all of the liberals I know aren’t willing to start training to murder fellow citizens.
They are stupid and fallow though.
Yes, this article is about the possibility of a looming Civil War 2. Thus, CWII ping!
The CWII Ping List is short for Civil War II. It is NOT a list of people advocating another Civil War in America. It is a list of people who are interested in the parallels between the Civil War (or War Between the States, if you prefer) and our current situation, or more generally are noting the references to a 'coming Civil War' that are made in the press.
The correct keyword tag for the Civil War II ping list is "CWII".
Please Freep Mail me to get on the list
Here, as a special CWII Ping List Bonus: an excellent article by Civil War II ping list co-creator, Matt Bracken: The CW2 Cube: Mapping the Meta-terrain (click gateway to hell to enter)
That is why a good rifle for 7.62 and 5.56mm each makes sense. Not that I condone such shenanigans of course, guns are scary.
Welcome to the party, pal. Now you need 10,000 rounds of ammo.
Semi-jokingly, I’ve said that the War of Yankee Aggression did not end at Appomattox. That it was only time out. It appears that I wasn’t too far off the mark, but for the wrong reason.
It appears that the Liberals pushed for the first war and now they are pushing for a second war. This time there will be no lines; no military operations. Your neighbor may be an enemy. You may be alone in your community.
In past postings I wanted a peaceful yet mandated separation. That didn’t happen; so we are faced with the very real danger of anarchy and/or revolution. The revolution, if it comes, it can be either like America 1776 or like France 1789/Russia 1917.
All true, but slavery had to go.
We are not animals.
During that critical month Lincoln turned down every attempt at a peaceful solution. He even admitted so in his second inaugural address. Lincoln was a butcher.
We are Devo.
I agree. There are PLENTY of check takers in LE and military.
Basically, the Left lacks the sort of men needed to fight Middle American resistance and impose a dictatorship.
