Son of Joe Ricketts of Ameritrade.
I perfecter a successful business person in government over a activists and failed socialist.
But that was nothing compared with the public relations disaster that followed a New York Times report last year that Toms father, the conservative billionaire Joe Ricketts, was considering a $10 million preelection ad campaign linking President Obama to incendiary comments by his former spiritual adviser.

The father is the one that went from nothing through hard work. It took 9 years to finish his degree because he had to work to support the family.
Been a looooooooooooooong time :)
Maybe he was talking about the Mom hanging plastic picnic table covers as curtains in the boys room because they were poor ;-)

The ultimate, however, was Marlenes decision to use plastic picnic-table covers with a 1976 bicentennial theme as curtains in the bedroom that all three boys shared, recalls Pete. We definitely were the poor family in the neighborhood, Todd says. I tell people that one of the reasons I have a bike shop today (see Take a Ride with Chicagos Craziest Bicycling Subculture) is that I never had a bike as a kid.

TRUMP is reaching into the ‘belly of the beast’ - CHICAGO. Conservative leadership and investment will break the liberal stranglehold in the hood.
Okay, I will admit—I think Trump has billionaires overrepresented in his early leadership choices, but the son of a billionaire (charter member of the lucky sperm club) is the last guy I think of as prepared to understand the companies we should be supporting (insofar as we are to have such a basically unnecessary department).
Even though Ricketts were opposed to him in the beginning..it appears they turned around late in the game and helped him win by getting some PACs on board.
So this is probably the pay back.
Exactly, Trump said during the campaign that he knew many captains of business who love this country and want to make this country great again.
Winning has consequences
Also, Wilbur Ross was a bond holder of one of Trump’s bankrupt companies. The way Trump handled the bankruptcy really impressed Ross. That is why he was and is a big Trump supporter.
No doubt.
But that is also how the swamp gets filled
