[ ... Trump with his pragmatic real-life record is a far more palatable national figure than Ted Cruz, whose unctuous, vainglorious professions of Christian piety dont pass the smell test. Trump is a blunt, no-crap mensch, while Cruz is a ham actor, doling out fake compassion like chopped liver. Cruzs lugubrious, weirdly womanish face, with its prim, tight smile and mawkishly appealing puppy-dog eyebrows, is like a waxen mask, always on the verge of melting. This guy doesnt know who the hell he isand the White House is no place for him and us to find out. ...]

As for a debasement of the presidency by Trumps slanging matches about penis size, that sorry process was initiated by a Democrat, Bill Clinton, who chatted about his underwear on TV, let Hollywood pals jump up and down on the bed in the Lincoln Bedroom, and played lewd cigar games with an intern in the White House offices. Every Republican should memorize this passage to throw back at Dems when the subject comes up.

Obviously I don’t agree with her about Cruz, but I do agree with her about Trump. And I agree that her view of Cruz is how most Democrats will see him.
She expresses well the root of Trump’s attraction, and exactly why so many Democrats and otherwise apolitical people will be drawn to vote for him, if he is the nominee. I believe if Cruz is the nominee Hillary loses, but if its Trump, Hillary loses big. Trump will draw cross-over votes in a way that Cruz will not.

Aside from all the hate in this article, Trump does have gravitas because of his age, height, personality, business and entertainment record. He’s an old bull dominating the field while the youngsters run around trying to gain attention.

Trump, a twice-divorced New York billionaire casino owner, is close to sweeping Dixie, so obviously Paglia isn't alone in finding Cruz to be off-putting.
He's still young. He needs to go back to the Senate and continue to build his record.

From my perspective as a fervent supporter of the ruggedly honest and principled Bernie Sanders
Camille Paglia is supporting Bernie???

1. As early as a year ago I heard grumblings from fellow conservative republicans about Cruz proselytizing too much.
2. Cruz has burned his bridges. Should not be calling Trump supporters uneducated and low information. Trying to support Cruz if Trump loses was hard enough with Cruz’s supporters. Now it’s impossible with Cruz telling Trump supporters that they’re dumb.

Funny, I see a vulgar, childish bully. Not a speck of "gravitas".

Love her or hate her, Camille has a way with words. She articulated many of my own misgivings about Cruz which I hadn’t entirely identified.

I was for Cruz first, until Trump entered the race. then I was hoping for Trump.Cruz...
But Cruz really has turned me off with his bible thumping speeches lately. He sounds like a profit-preacher.
