Obviously I don’t agree with her about Cruz, but I do agree with her about Trump. And I agree that her view of Cruz is how most Democrats will see him.

She expresses well the root of Trump’s attraction, and exactly why so many Democrats and otherwise apolitical people will be drawn to vote for him, if he is the nominee. I believe if Cruz is the nominee Hillary loses, but if its Trump, Hillary loses big. Trump will draw cross-over votes in a way that Cruz will not.

1. As early as a year ago I heard grumblings from fellow conservative republicans about Cruz proselytizing too much.

2. Cruz has burned his bridges. Should not be calling Trump supporters uneducated and low information. Trying to support Cruz if Trump loses was hard enough with Cruz’s supporters. Now it’s impossible with Cruz telling Trump supporters that they’re dumb.

I disagree on one point.

If Cruz is the nominee, he will lose to Hillary because he doesn't have broad appeal outside the evangelical, right-wing of the conservative base.

Trump, on the other hand, for all his faults, has a much broader appeal outside the Republican base. He can pull votes from the middle, left and right to win in November.

And this is the one reason I support Trump for the nomination. I believe he alone can beat Hillary in November but I don't think Cruz can.

Of course, all of this could change if the RNC and GOP mucky-mucks decide to dirty-deal at the convention and after a big, wet kiss to make-up, they will give the nomination to Cruz as their new guy. They've already gone through Yeb Bush and now Marco Rubio. Or they'll try to push Mitt Romney, a two-time GOP loser, to the front of the line and offer him up as a shiny-new version who can beat Hillary, as well.

None of these ploys will work. Only Trump has the stature and huevos to meet Hillary head on and beat her on the stump and in the polling booths come November. By picking Cruz or Romney at the convention, the GOP will be alienating all of Trump's supporters and will be shooting themselves in the foot again trying to get a president elected from their party.
