Turning Against Trump
American Thinker ^

Posted on 02/21/2016 11:42:37 AM PST by GodGunsGuts

People who pride themselves on rational thinking know there are few feelings worse than being wrong about something, especially something that they made a big noise about at the time. What helps lessen this intellectual humiliation is understanding that, given the information available at the time, the decision was a rational one at the time. The remedy for the initial error is to use the newly available information to reach a more reasoned decision.

As the campaign season goes forward, we're learning more about Donald Trump's politics and seeing his initial ebullient puckishness too often give way to self-referential arrogance and venomous hubris. Now is a good time for Trump supporters to use this new information to revisit their original conclusion about him and to realize, with no shame attached, that he's not the candidate they thought he was...

Not fair to use real realitymath of the math and reality challenged!

Remember, 77% of primary voters in SC found Cruz & Rubio to be UNFAVORABLE.

understand he wants to be treated fairly, but that didn't become a condition

Yeah, sorry. I meant to address that to “All”, but since there’s no edit post feature....

I think Trump has burned his bridges re: any Trump/Cruz ticket there. But I could be wrong. Much of this primary rhetoric is all for show and kabuki entertainment for the masses. We’ll see how it plays out.

You could be.

In the meantime, good young lawyers have a very fertile new and growing field to get into.

The battles between Apple and the FBI and other 3 letter agencies is just part of this fertile ground.

Young lawyers versed in corporate law or federal law and are good with computers, Iphones/pads and androids, cloud tech will have a great time, financial opportunities will have the edge over other older lawyers.

Go to some of the FR Apple versus Feds threads posted just in the past few days and apply your fertile mind to what is happening, might be happening and may be bs.

Does a President need to be brash and sometimes not politically correct, yes. I believe it is sometimes needed. Does a President need to have a good strong ego, absolutely as mud get flung at them all the time...and in foreign countries sometimes even shoes! Trump is sometimes pithy and funny, yet other times his ego seems to get too easily bruised. Is he accomplished, absolutely. Has he ever failed? Absolutely it is that ability to fail and get back in the ring that sets successful people apart from the rest.

Cruz is accomplished in a different arena. One that is badly needed at the present time as well. The arena of law, specifically Constitutional law.

But the more and more I look at the races Trump and Cruz prove everyday that they are not ready for Presidency. While some may rail against my candidate of choice, his liberal left turn is no more or less than what is being revealed by Trumps own admissions.

“As chair of the Budget Committee in Congress, John Kasich, with bipartisan support, literally balanced the federal budget four years running and repaid $560 billion of the national debt – nearly 10 percent. As governor of Ohio, again with bipartisan support, John Kasich balanced the state’s budget, converting an $8 billion deficit into a $2 billion surplus, cutting taxes $5 billion.

Ohio’s economy is roaring, with over 400,000 new private sector jobs, and wages rising faster than the national average.

Kasich actually brought jobs home from China and Mexico. With the surplus, he’s helped the mentally ill and the uninsured. And he’s fought heroin addiction among youth. During 18 years in Congress, Kasich served on the Armed Services Committee. He is a national security expert right now, requiring no on-the-job training. http://www.concordmonitor.com/opinion/20919604-95/letter-the-case-for-kasich

Dropping the hint to the elites if they do not play fair and keep their bargain, he won’t keep it either? The elites are going to do every dirty trick in the book to take the nomination from Trump if they can, and you expect Trump to just roll over? The elites are dishonest and corrupt; they will do every dishonest dirty trick in the book if they are allowed to get away with it. Because Trump is unwilling to go along with this, you are now going to vote for status quo; and cast your vote for the global elitest, amnesty loving, establishment, Washington insider?

If we have an establishment hack as the GOP nominee again, what difference will it make anyway? Trump is our Hail Mary. Also, I thought you wrote an opus and told us all goodbye. So why are you here? Don’t you believe in keeping your word?

Sadly, I think you are right, because of Beck and Romney endorsements, The LDS cult are going to bring out their members en masse for the sometimes-Mormon Rubio. Sandoval and Heller, big establishment RINOs are going to their bit as well. Judging by what happened at the last two caucuses I went to, Rubio is going to take Nevada. Cruz needs to withdraw now and endorse Trump, as does Carson. If they stay in, Rubio wins.

Beck and his fasting ferrets is a great wording.

Please read the following and consider using it with the Cruzzettes. They are impossible and will not vote this year.

One of the historic truisms in the past several election cycles is the Cruz Coalition, as currently assembled, is the first to stay home when their candidate does not win. The socially-minded voter will never vote for a populist fiscal conservative/socially moderate candidate. Cruz voters, and their advocates, are emotionally driven by social issues. Hence they yell a lot (See Mark Levin) and only respond well to others who are inside their echo-chamber.

Consequently neither Rubio nor Trump will try to gain/court Cruz voters. Why should they; the narrow-minded group will never vote for them, if they vote at all.

This non-voting truism is why the GOPe ignore the Cruz-like factions completely; because rarely will the GOPe be influenced by them. When Cruz Clan get angry and do not get their way they do not vote.

The modern way to deal with that faction is to make them angry, and they leave. Example: Questioning eligibility sets them off easily and they lose control. They might even invite another sketchy character, Glenn Beck, to help showcase their entrenched ideological moonbattery.) See how easy that is? More exposure to the crazy = less votes in crazy camp.

Both Trump and Rubio will most likely ignore Cruz, as neither stands to benefit much.

Just to have a little fun with the legalities, is the pledge a contract? It seems a one sided promise by Trump without any corresponding promise of performance by the GOP. Similarly, there is no exchange of consideration. Trump gives the consideration of supporting another nominee and not going independent, but the GOP does not give any consideration in return. If it is a contract, it lacks mutuality. By the same token, there can’t be covenants (such as good faith and fair dealing) where there is no contract in the first place.

Can the pledge be deemed a contract with an implied promise by the GOP to treat Donald fairly providing mutuality and/or the bargained-for consideration? An argument can be made that such a promise is implied by Reince Preibus’ signature on the document. Otherwise, Why is he signing a unilateral promise?

I am a Cruz supporter. I would vote for Rubio as the nominee, but probably will not vote at all if Trump is the nominee. Based on what I’ve seen of Trump, I have no idea if he would be any better than the lunatics running in the other party. I don’t mean this as disparagement. I honestly don’t know what to believe any more about what Trump really believes any more than I can predict what he is likely to do as President. Until and unless I’m convince that he’s a better alternative, no thanks.
