Don-o's Mama, my mother-in-law, Irene, who just celebrated her 90th birthday, happy, healthy, with all the family, was found unresponsive at home following a probable cardiac arrest. She was rushed to the hospital this afternoon and put on a ventilator, but her prognosis is extremely poor. Sometime rather soon--- maybe it's a matter of hours, though only God knows --- we expect she will pass from this life to the next.
I will post more later, because dear Mama deserves to be better known and loved, and I want to share what she has meant to me. Briefly, she is one of the Pure of Heart. And she will see God.
For now: your prayers for our dear Mama Irene are requested. All things are in the hands of Our Good Lord, Whom she has loved all her life --- and Who will, we pray, have mercy on her, fill her with His loving-kindness, free her from every trace of sin and sorrow, and make her glorious in His Kingdom.
Done. God’s peace be on you and your family.
Prayers up for Don-o’s Mom and for you and your husband.
You are good people.
May God bless you and give you the strength you need, whatever may come.
My own dear mother, of blessed memory, passed 23 years and one day ago. It’s still hard.
O God of all spirits and of every flesh, Who did trod down death and overcome the devil, bestowing life on this Your world, to the soul of this Your handmaiden, departed this life, do You Yourself, O Lord, give rest in a place of light, in a place of green pasture, in a place of refreshment, from where pain and sorrow and mourning have fled away. Every sin by her committed in thought, word, or deed, do You as our Good and Loving God forgive; seeing that there is no man who shall live and sin not, for You alone are without sin. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your Law is truth; for You are the Resurrection, the Life, and the Repose of Your handmaiden, departed this life, O Christ our God; and to You do we send up glory, with Your Eternal Father and Your All-Holy, Good and Life-creating Spirit; both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
Glory to You, O Christ our God and our Hope; glory to You. May Christ our true God, Who rose from the dead, have mercy on us; He Who as Immortal King has authority over both the dead and the living. Through the intercessions of His spotless, pure and holy Mother; of the holy, glorious, and all;praiseworthy Apostles; of our venerable and Godbearing Fathers; of the holy and glorious forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; of His holy and just friend Lazaros, who lay in the grave four days; and of all the Saints; establish the soul of His handmaiden, departed from us, in the tentings of the Just; give her rest in the bosom of Abraham; and number her among the Just, through His goodness and compassion as our merciful God.
Everlasting be your memory, O our sister, who are worthy of blessedness and eternal memory.
Prayers up that, if He calls her home, she revels in His presence and that He give her loved ones comfort in the knowledge of His fidelity.
Almighty Father, as is Your Will, heal and make whole or receive don-o’s Mother into Your arms, supply all the family needs, and comfort the entire family and their friends as You see appropriate. I ask this in the Holy Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.
You can count on my Prayers!
Y’all have had a rough go of it over the past year. I will keep the whole family in my thoughts and Prayers.
Prayers up.
Mama Irene died around midnight last night. CT scan showed huge stroke, blood pooled in brain, brain stem damage. When the family agreed to remove the ventilator and the IV's, everything just stopped. No pain; everyone sad but prayerful and at peace.
Weird but comforting: last night I dreamed of the Hassidic rock guy Avi Ran singing "There is God," the song that he sings (I think it's him) at the Israeli movie "Ushpizim," on YouTube if any of you are into that.
"And the main thing is, not to be afraid at all.
There is God.
There's only God."
Prayers for you and your family, in Jesus Name.
I’m sorry. Irene is now with our Lord, but her spirit will always be with those she loved.
I am so sorry to hear this.
Prayers for the lady’s health and healing.
Forgive me, I didn’t see the update. My condolences on your loss. May she rest in peace.
I just prayed for Irene and you guys.
Prayers for you and yours, RIP Irene.
Thank you for this beautiful prayer. Mama really was one of the Pure in Heart, the kind of person who did not demand attention to herself, but by her graciousness and wisdom sustained generations. I am counting on her prayers for the cohort of grandkids and great-grandkids.
A quiet noble lady, heart to heart with her Savior Who is blessed forever.
And now, she’s with the Lord in the place where no shadows fall.
You have my condolences.
Prayers up!
