Mama Irene died around midnight last night. CT scan showed huge stroke, blood pooled in brain, brain stem damage. When the family agreed to remove the ventilator and the IV's, everything just stopped. No pain; everyone sad but prayerful and at peace.

Weird but comforting: last night I dreamed of the Hassidic rock guy Avi Ran singing "There is God," the song that he sings (I think it's him) at the Israeli movie "Ushpizim," on YouTube if any of you are into that.

"And the main thing is, not to be afraid at all.

There is God.

There's only God."

I’m sorry. Irene is now with our Lord, but her spirit will always be with those she loved.

So sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and don-o, and the others in your circle of family. I pray that the Holy Spirit pour faith upon you, as your needs may require. You will surely hear how this manner of passing was "pretty good" in the scheme of things, and that Mama Irene had a good life, and left behind generations of good progeny. While true, those facts hold little comfort in light of your loss. Know that the loss is an inevitable worldly one, and that our Father in heaven has so much love for each one of his creatures, especially those who recognize the gifts of life and salvation as just that, undeserved gifts, that even as you sit there and wonder, Mama Irene has never been happier, and she knows she will see you in the fullness of time. In Jesus' name, I pray.
