Fox News Buries Cruz Iowa Victory with Rubio, Clinton Coverage
February 2, 2016 | Ralph Mitchell

Coverage of the Ted Cruz Iowa Victory is being minimized by Fox News with excessive coverage of Rubio and Clinton. This is based on the evidence of those viewing.

“Cruz is toast after the BS he and Steve King pulled tonight
I can assure that won’t play on Super Tuesday SEC States. “

Please elaborate what they did that was so bad.

Tim Scott (SC Senator) is endorsing Rubio.

Cruz needs to rent a house in South Carolina.

I like Cruz, but that speech was ridiculously long.

It’s only one primary. How long is he going to go on for if he wins the nomination or the presidency?

Every time I turn up the sound, it is about Rubio. [...] Didn’t everyone know he would be third?

Yeah, if people vote for Cruz in November, they’ll be voting for change. And succinct speeches would be a refreshing change from those Castroesque prolixities of the current _resident.

Yes, and from the Rubio speech, I thought he thought had won, even though I was looking at the totals!

After all, FOX wanted him to win and since he didn't, covered his entire self-aggrandizing speech!

After watching and listening to him drone on about himself, I finally muted it. Thankfully, Trump was brief and polite by congratulating the Cruz camp for its victory.

My husband said Trump still has plenty of time to begin insulting Ted tomorrow by lunch time!

Cruz isn't getting the nom. Deep down he knows it probably and that's why he is relishing Iowa.

You’re not going to have to worry about a Cruz nomination speech. It ain’t gonna happen.

I loved the speech. Didn’t feel long to me. And the RINO shills at Fox cut him off before finishing and put Sanders on. Jerks. Then later Kelly said Rubio’s speech was great and Cruz’ was too long. I couldn’t even pay attention to Rubio’s speech. His annoying arch cadence, sappy emotionalism and jibber-jabbering makes me tune out during a 1 minute debate answer let alone a speech.

Cruz’s biggest opponent is Rubio, bar none. Trump needs to call it a night and go back to managing his strip clubs and paying off local politicians to issue eminent domains. That guy has no business running as a conservative.

I am a confirmed Cruz supporter so it would be natural for me to jump on the bandwagon and criticize Fox as the Trump supporters criticized Fox when Megan Kelly actually committed journalism in the first debate but Fox is behaving according to the norm and there is no grounds to believe that they are conspiratorially favoring one candidate over the other in the way they handled tonight's election coverage.

The networks think of themselves as covering news not advancing America's political science culture. Their idea of news is the unexpected, man bites dog. So when a candidate fails or exceeds expectations by definition that is news.

From an earlier reply tonight:

Rubio is legitimately a big story because he beat expectations. Trump is a huge loser because he lost on expectations. Cruz is also a winner, not as large in the media's mind as Rubio, because he beat expectations. I have opposed Rubio from the beginning because of his stance on immigration, but I think we have to be fair to Fox. They are behaving as the media always behaves and one cannot ascribe their reaction to Rubio beating expectations as out of the norm.

By the way, compare Rubio's speech to Trump's halfhearted effort now on the Fox screen. Rubio is obviously light-years ahead of Trump in histrionic ability. Trump had really better watch out in New Hampshire, Rubio is a big threat to him now and I expect the Trump supporters to divert some of their venom away from Ted Cruz toward Marco Rubio.

I do not think that it is completely out of character, but it is too early to tell if it will stick. They are going to deny everything or claim that they were the ones who were misled.

See my post #15. Ted Cruz actually had the most uninterrupted victory speech time...32 minutes, and finally broke away to see Hillary & Sanders clips of speeches. Cruz had more than any other candidates, Repub or Dem. Rubio probably had the next largest amount of speech time. ps. And I’m a Cruz fan, and he did not get cheated out of any time.

I think Trump went after Cruz because he knew Cruz was the leader in Iowa. NH is totally different - Trump is playing with a lead and Cruz isn’t even his main competition there.

I expect Trump to be more diplomatic this week, by his standards anyway lol. Any real shots he takes will be at Rubio.

You need to do your homework. Cruz had 32 min of uninterrupted victory speech time, more than any other candidate, Repub or Dem

I agree, but CNN buried it by going to Hillary.

Does anyone really want to argue about who the outsider is?

Gee. I'm confused, I thought Trump believed what he said about Cruz, you know, his being "unlikeable and nasty" and stuff; of course four or five weeks ago, Trump said Cruz was an OK guy, so what to believe.

So, you're saying Trump's gonna turn the hate on Rubio to knock him out of second place in NH by calling him names, etc?

Like I said- they couldn’t even let him have his full evening of celebration- they sure let other republican iwoan caucus winners have theirs- This was his night- He smashed a record for votes cast for him, yet you wouldn’t even know that because fox news was too busy playing up the Rubio 3’rd place amount- and when Cruz’s campaign person came on afterwards, you could see and hear the disgust in Megan’s voice as she kept cutting her off when she would trumpet Cruz’s record and agenda-

Sorry- but I’m more than a little disgusted with Fox and their rino adoring news crews-
