Evangelicals in America have been calling Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson's faith into question since discovering he is a Seventh Day Adventist. The Seventh Day Adventists have a wide range of beliefs so most Bible-believing Americans decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
But now... He just went off the deep end of theology. In what seems to be an entire attempt at discrediting the teachings of Christianity by Jesus Christ himself, Carson elaborates on his beliefs. The Republican candidate dismisses the Rapture, saying he doesn't see any evidence for it in the Bible. (See the words of Jesus in Matthew 24:30-31). Then Carson makes a statement that blew the minds of Christians in America...
"I don't believe there is a physical place where people go and are tormented. No. I don't believe that," he said. (See... all of the Gospels)
Carson says he knows some people will disagree with him... (including Jesus). He said, "There's going to be different interpretations. You know, I see God as a very loving individual. And why would he torment somebody forever who only had a life of 60 or 70 or 80 years? Even if they were evil. Even if they were only evil for 80 years?"
Ummm... sin Carson... sin. See Genesis 3. See Romans 1.
Someone needs to sit down with Ben Carson and walk him through the Bible because as it stands, he is NOT a believer in the teachings of Jesus Christ, which means he is NOT a follower of Christ aka a Christian.

The Rapture is commonly known as pre-tribulation. It is not in the Bible anywhere. At the last trump, yes. As for a place called Hell where sinners are tormented eternally? Not scriptural either. That is not to say there is not a place until final judgment where they are tormented with “what ifs” “why nots” and “why did I’s”. God has a plan, it is a bit complex and mysterious, who is anyone to delve into specifics, timetables, and eternity? We are forgiven if we truly strive to follow in the path of Yeshua after repentance. That is enough to start.
If you really want to argue though, get into reward for “works”. That is scriptural, and has nothing to do with forgiveness which is a gift. It has to do with going above and beyond that. It is called weaving your garments if my memory serves.
.
Eternal punishment is deeply scriptural.
Try some reading.
Prophecy speaks of “a place prepared.”
Unless you don’t believe God’s word, how do you dismiss such language?
.
.
>> “ That they (Heaven and Hell) arenât physical locations, like Earth. That doesnât make them any less real though.” <<
Physical locations, as in space-time, will all pass with a loud noise; that is what Peter said, and also what Yeshua said in the Revelation.
The Revelation does describe places that will come afterward, such as “the new Heavens and New Earth” and the “new Jerusalem.”
They will not have the limitations of our physical world.
Let’s not declare that places will not exist somewhere that we are presently incapable of going.
So anyone not a Christian who is doing wonderful things for people including saving lives, they're going to hell?
But a useless, selfish person who says he believes in Christ is going to heaven?
Just curious, how many organized branches of the Christian religion actually believe in the Rapture to the point they actually perpetuate and promote it within their churches on Sundays?
Yep and God help us if a Catholic, or Lutheran or Baptist or Hindu or any other people hating religion should get the nomination....We will be so screwed!
We all fall short of the God’s standard so no one is good enough on their own. But believing in Jesus Christ, meaning accepting Him into our lives (die to self) is what makes us righteous in God’s eyes. God came to earth in the form of man as Jesus Christ to reconcile us to him. Jesus said ‘I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me’. Anyone that is a believer is not useless by that definition as God calls us, we don’t call him (even though it seems that way). There’s a scripture in Psalms that says ‘I give you the desires of your heart’. That means God changes what we desire; so when we turn to Him we become new creatures in him, no longer useless!
All one has to do is accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and you are free of this world. But not accepting him leads to eternal separation from God.
You may not believe (yet :)) but God is with you now. He holds all things together.
If you don’t have Jesus Christ you don’t have salvation. Jesus is the only salvation, who else paid for your sins? God is not going to let those who reject Jesus into His kingdom, that is it, deal with it. You are free to believe what you want, I will believe Jesus Christ as hundreds of millions have since the Cross.
Jesus will catch His own up to Him on His way down here, there is no 7 year in heaven nonsense. It is the start of the Millennium rule of Jesus Christ on earth.
Hell has not yet been created but God will create Hell and cast all those who reject Him (Jesus) into it. Either you receive Jesus Christ and His payment for your sins or you pay for your sins in Hell forever.
Sheol (Hebrew) and Hades (Greek) is the present hell. Hell (The Lake of Fire) is the final and eternal Hell for all without Jesus Christ’ payment for sin they are cast into Hell at the judgment of Jesus Christ, He will judge all either as His or as having rejected Him.
I do not say these things on my own authority but on the authority of God’s own Word.
Are you righteous enough to save yourself? No one is righteous. Jesus Christ is our righteousness, as Jonathan Edwards said with revelation from God, “my righteousness sits at the right hand of the Father”.
“One day as I was passing into the field, this sentence fell upon my soul: ‘Thy righteousness is in heaven.’ And with the eyes of my soul I saw Jesus at the Father’s right hand. ‘There,’ I said, ‘is my righteousness!’ So that wherever I was or whatever I was doing, God could not say to me, ‘Where is your righteousness?’ For it is always right before him.
“I saw that it is not my good frame of heart that made my righteousness better, nor yet my bad frame that made my righteousness worse, for my righteousness is Christ. Now my chains fell off indeed. My temptations fled away, and I lived sweetly at peace with God.
“Now I could look from myself to him and could reckon that all my character was like the coins a rich man carries in his pocket when all his gold is safe in a trunk at home. Oh I saw that my gold was indeed in a trunk at home, in Christ my Lord. Now Christ was all: my righteousness, sanctification, redemption.”
- John Bunyan, Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor 5:21
And let's not omit verse 29... "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken....
Immediately after what? The Tribulation that's what! Then the Son of Man will appear coming on the clouds of heaven (the saints in heaven) and then the angels will gather his elect.
I am not Catholic, a SBA, a pre-trib'er or a Carson supporter.
If I was able to leave the earth, I'd set my course for the North Star...Continue in that direction till I get well beyond the 2nd heaven and I will run into God...Is heaven a place or a state of mind???
Joh_14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Joh_14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
If Jesus says heaven is a place, it is a place...
As the Bible says, I will test every spirit...
weird, you support an adulterer, a man who supported planned parenthood, a man who didn’t support Kim Davis and a man who gave money to Christian hating leftists. Thats Trump. Based on Trump actions thats not very Christian. He hasn’t repented for them either.
So if you are gonna judge who is Christian enough to be president then your support of Trump is odd.
See, now there’s a prime example — You don’t even know enough to understand the scripture you quote. 1 John 4:1 is specifically about those claiming to be prophets. It is *NOT* a scripture for you to hide behind while you cast judgement on your neighbor, or even a Presidential candidate (unless said candidate professes to be a prophet).
Further, you are not GOD, nor are you JESUS. You should check yourself before you wreck yourself!
Thirdly, I’d be the last person to claim they are a “good” christian, so throwing scripture out at folks you don’t know won’t work with me. You simply come across like those primitive baptist bigots at the busy intersection screaming at cars with a bullhorn as they drive by.
Go play the “I’m more pious than you” game with someone who gives a hoot how religious you think I am, or how religious you pretend to be.
GO drive someone else away from the Lord. You seem the type who enjoys that.
Total destruction, a “consuming fire” is just that, turns whatever is burnt to ashes. What then? rebirth tomorrow, and consumed by fire again? Maybe check out what the Original OT says about that, interpreted by Hebrews.
GO SEEK JESUS...”The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool.” (Proverbs 10:18)
Again, as the Bible says, NOT YOU, I WILL test every spirit...
“Do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.” (1 John 4:1)
“But test them all; hold on to what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
I listen to God and His Holy Word, not YOU...
“But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)
I agree. Not sure your point. Is it because I don’t believe in Trump?
Judge not lest ye be judged.
Forever and ever are the scriptural words.
Adding your own words is a route to disaster; read Deuteronomy 12, and Revelation 22. You have invited the curse contained therein.
.
Here are some great verses showing that the Son is God.
John under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit says:
John 1:1 — “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
God the Father calls the Son “God”:
Hebrews 1:8 — “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.”
Not “a” God or “some other” God, but the very God, and there is no other:
Isaiah 43:10,11 — “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”
Jesus is God, God incarnate. He was crucified, died and was in the grave three days and nights, rising victorious over sin and death. And by placing our faith and trust in him, we receive forgiveness of sins, forgiveness that can only come “by grace through”. If it were possible by “works”, then Christ has died in vein (Galatians 2:21).
But praise Him “who is, who was, and is to come”. (Rev 1:8)
