I haven't done a quick vanity screed in ages, not as a singluar post, but something set me off today.
Donald Trump claims now that he will close some mosques in the United States if they are ISIL related.
"Varney asked Trump if he agreed with British Prime Minister David Camerons recent proposal to close mosques if a worshiper is linked to ISIS. Trump responded unequivocally, Absolutely, I think its great. Varney, apparently taken aback by Trumps flippant response to depriving Americans of their constitutional rights, followed up incredulously, Can you close a mosque? Adding, We do have religious freedom. Trump then gave us this gem: It depends. If the mosque is, you know, loaded for bear. Loaded for bear?! Is that a term I missed in law school about when its OK to violate Americans constitutional rights?? from: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/10/22/now-trump-says-i-ll-close-mosques.html
Well your speech is harsh because nothing I posted to you was obnoxious, mean spirited, or anything else.
I just think Trump flat out doesn’t understand the issue.
I also don’t much care what is in Geller’s heart. She is defending freedom of speech and trying to knock down the idea that we shouldn’t be able to draw a silly cartoon.
We should all join her. If we did, the entire issue would fade away entirely.
“I had the same thoughts as you did about Clinton and Obama. It was based on what they said and stood for, not their mannerisms and general demeanor.”
Which is why we end up with horrible leaders/politicians. Anyone can say anything or stand for anything to whatever level of sincerity needed; some do this better than others, or are more consistent. None of that indicates who they really are, or what direction they will go when they are given power.
When push comes to shove, will the individual be competent and do the right thing, or does the mask fall and the true agenda appear?
So many focus on one or more pet issues, believing that agreement indicates similarity of thought, but that is a false assumption. They fail to comprehend or only comprehend only in a vague and general way that their life and liberty depends on this individual, especially a President.
Personal behavior (mannerisms and general demeanor), not words or even deeds, indicates the true nature of an individual.
“Anyone can say anything or stand for anything to whatever level of sincerity needed...”
You must not have listened to what Clinton was saying. It was a hard left, liberal agenda he set out. That is why I did not vote for him.
Obama not only RAN on a hard left agenda, he ran on a hard ANTI-American agenda. I am amazed that people claim he ran in the center. The first time I saw him in debate against Biden and Hillary — I predicted he did not stand a chance because of his obvious anti-Americanism and his name. Was I wrong!!!
When all the Republican candidates except Trump run on a pro-amnesty platform, you can take it to the bank; they are for amnesty. Amnesty will end conservatism and the United States.
I do no pay attention to Trump’s money, his TV show fame (which I never watched), but only to what he “preaches”. And he has consistently preached the same message for 25 years.
George Washington could not give a stirring speech because of his dentures. Would you have voted him down because of that mannerism? Abraham Lincoln had a high voice. I find Trump’s mannerisms and demeanor entertaining, but I wouldn’t vote for him on based on that.
I almost never listen to what they say. It is how they behave as they are speaking, walking, sitting, how they interact with what is around them. Words are cheep; buy them at your own peril.
You mistake mannerisms due to physical problems for character ...
Would you trust your life, your family’s lives to this or that politician?
then the sTRUMPets must quit and join with Cruz, I agree
I would really agree with one single trump supporter who admits that mass murder is more important than an offensive cartoon
and not one of you have yet
proving Pamela Geller right, and proving me right.
“You mistake mannerisms due to physical problems for character”
Are you serious? I don’t judge by mannerisms at all. That is what you say you do.
“It is how they behave as they are speaking, walking, sitting, how they interact with what is around them”
That is a strange way to evaluate, considering how you NEVER get to see a presidential candidate do anything other than wave and speak.
“Would you trust your life, your familys lives to this or that politician?”
No, but do we have a choice in the matter? All our leaders are politicians. Elected politicians, likely as not, usually get innocent people killed. Obama was elected; he has charted a course that will destroy many people for many years who may have not voted for him. Illegals have killed many thousands of Americans. Lay that at the feet of George W Bush and Obama.
Wouldn’t you agree that preventing mass murder is more important than preserving individual free speech rights?
From what you wrote about it, that’s what Trump seems to be saying.
wouldn’t you agree that saying that mass murder was worse than drawing a cartoon was more appropriate than saying drawing a cartoon was inciteful and make NO MENTION of the mass murder attempt or dismiss it as being less important than mass murder?
and wouldn’t Trump actually say that if he meant that?
You sTRUMPets just cant admit mass murder is worse than drawing a cartoon, not a single one of you.
He’s bankrupted multiple times. Trump Air was a billion dollar debacle. The USFL, a complete failure largely because of his grotesque ego. Half his gambling properties have failed and the rest are teetering. He levered up and bought mostly terrible investments. Some of his NY properties have done very well, largely because NY has done very well.
I was referring to your reference to Lincoln’s and Washington’s defects. Physical defects are not the same as behaviors.
Do it your way. Fine. I have no problem with that. My life observations in many life threatening situations for decades is all. Pay the price.
“My life observations in many life threatening situations”
You cannot compare an evil person about to commit a crime with watching candidates on TV. Trump is 69 years old and has never been arrested. This is ridiculous.
Does Ted Cruz support closing down mosques in the United States that advocate or incite violence?
You are going out on a limb to make me imply something I did not. END
he has said a lot of things like that the whole time
you will have to search for exact phrases, try google
“If the mosque is inciting people to violence or to go against the Constitution of the United States, absolutely it should be shut down. The Constitution does not give the right to treason!”
You can’t shut down a church of any kind as free speech is a right. Who is going to be god who says the church needs to be shut down? That same god could also say every Christian church is full of domestic terrorists and is going to be shut down. If Obama could do that, every Christian church would be burned down.
(Not smart, not nice, and you have to wonder about the motive.)
That’s exactly the type of speech that’s protected by the Constitution, and the type of speech that she’s fighting to save by using it.
