Republican candidate Ben Carson continued his controversial remarks about guns Thursday -- suggesting in a new interview that the Jews may have been able to diminish the likelihood of the Holocaust if they were armed.
Carson made the remarks, which drew swift condemnation -- on CNN. He said that passengers on Flight 93, which crashed on 9/11, helped avoid further tragedy by rushing the gunman.
In Carson's new book “A Perfect Union,” Carson writes that “through a combination of removing guns and disseminating propaganda, the Nazis were able to carry out their evil intentions with relatively little resistance.”(continued)

When the Germans liquidated the Warsaw ghetto and deported the inhabitants to Treblinka they were met with armed resistance from a few people with firearms. It was quite a struggle to subdue the ghetto even though the Jews had very few weapons. In the end all were killed but it showed that it does not take a lot of weapons to make the evil machinations of tyranny a lot more difficult. So Dr. Carson was correct.

What’s controversial bout this? It’s documented historical fact. The Nazis disarmed the Jews and then proceeded to murder over 6 million of them.

JHC, reading the comments on that story just make me sad. What the hell are our kids taught in history class? I could not have any type of conversation with people who find something wrong with what ben carson said because what he said is TRUE!!!!
What do conservatives have in common with people on the left? It is time to separate ourselves. It is time that we accept that we cannot coexist.

Just as the Umpqua shooting is surely Muslim revenge for the French train take down in Roseburg (Oregon’s “Bible belt” and home town of Skarlatos), surely the stabbing of Stephen Stone by two “asian men” was also Muslim revenge.

Going way out on a limb here, I think that’s why the NAZI’s first step was to disarm them.

The opposing view is what exactly? If only the Jews had tried harder to be nice to the Nazis? If they had more dialogue?
I’m Jewish, and I have studied the Holocaust extensively. It wouldn’t have stopped it, but it would have made a huge difference. At the least, the Germans would have had to devote substantial resources to it, making them lose the war more quickly...which, by itself, would have saved many Jews and others from being murdered.
Of course he is right. That’s why the reaction from the Left is so vociferous - because if you can successfully resist one of the most brutal and oppressive regimes in history with a few hundred thousand or a couple million guns in the hands of a despised minority, what kind of resistance could be put up by 400 million guns in the hands of a large percentage of the population?
