Trump dominates Sunday talk shows

Trump also promised to cut spending and waste in government, a promise met with skepticism from both hosts. Yet it has been pointed out that just eliminating zero-based budgeting alone, which automatically increases government spending by 6 percent a year, would stop the growth of government spending and the debt trajectory.

Trump implied that there would be cuts in whole departments and business efficiencies brought to procurement and spending. As he put it in previous interviews, “It’s called management.”

*snip*

It was clear Trump had the American economy on his mind, first and foremost. He was detailed and less bombastic as he asserted that business and economic growth are what his wheelhouse is and what needs to be emphasized to change the trajectory of the economy and government spending.

He repeatedly defended his tax policies with specifics, and when pushed on his commitment to the presidential race made the point that he was winning in the polls and connecting with the voters. When pressed on whether he would leave the race if his numbers dropped, Trump was nonplussed, replying that he was not a “masochist” and if his poll numbers tanked it would be because he was no longer connecting with the American people.

I’m sold on Trump. Problem is like yesterday when some unnamed Republican hotshot said they will absolutely not allow Trump to represent the Republican party.

Scares the crap out of me that they’ll find a way.

I like Cruz too but he will never win the nomination or the general.

It would be best if he could be Trump’s VP so people could get to know him better first.

The media isn’t giving Cruz the time of day now and they will absolutely savage him if Trump gets out.

Eric Bolling interviewed him on his show “ Cashing In “ . IIRC , he said he would be eliminating entire agencies. I think he said he would be naming them in a couple of weeks .

That’s complete horsebleep. Is he on TV whenever he wants to be ? Yes. Is it Trump sucks all the time by the media? Yes. When a poll comes out it’s not that he leads but that his lead is somehow not this or that. It’s obvious he tickles media wallets but not their group think fancy. The grass roots are speaking here.

I thought the interviews, with both Chuck Todd and George Stephanopolus, were well done. Trump just keeps looking more presidential, and never stops being interesting. An American Classic, for sure.

The “social issues” are all the Democrats have. I’d like to see us have the “discussion” on social issues AFTER the border is secure, the economy is rolling, and we are again a strong player on the world stage. The basics, in other words. Security and prosperity will be what the vast majority of Americans will be voting for in ‘16, not “transgender rights.”

I see the frustration on UPchuck todd’s face that the narrative that “Trump is fading” is just not working at all. The glee that “Carley is second”. The NBC WSJ poll is measuring what? Is it measure “registered republicans” That is not what you want. You want people likely to vote in the republican primaries.
Let me assure all who care FioRINO is going nowhere. When she ran her feminazi ads she took herself right out of it. We don’t do “feminist “ in the Republican party we do ‘AMERICANS”
Little boy bush is spending like a drunken sailor in New Hampshire. It isn’t working but it does bring to mind that TRUMP has not even started spending on ads yet. When he does, it will be scorched earth. Can’t wait.

“I guess you don’t watch TV or follow national news feeds.”

I have been told I am doing that too much.

“They pump Trump 24/7”

Pump? Most of us consider that smearing. Why do you think they complain Trump is thin skinned? You ever watch George Will, Charles Krauthammer, Megyn Kelly, NBC, CBS, ABC, not to mention New York Times, LA Times, etc.? He is featured because he happens to be the Republican front runner, i.e. target.

Fiorina, now that was pumping.

Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on American companies that put their factories in other countries.” He’s also vowed to to “increase taxes on the compensation of hedge fund managers” to ensure that the rich pay “their fair share.” Recent estimates put Trump’s tax reform plan as adding 10 TRILLION to the National Debt. His position on illegal immigration involves somehow sending over 12 million illegals “home” only to let most of them return. He’s against pulling funding for planned parenthood because, “they do many other good things.” He now SAYS he’s opposes abortion but his position for years supported free choice at any stage of pregnancy. Until VERY recently, he supported a ban on assault weapons. He says he’ll repeal Obamacare but he’s expressed support of a single payer system. From what I’ve heard thus far, Donald Trump is not a cheerleader for limited government. Seems more PROGRESSIVE than Conservative. I’m finding it interesting that so many here seem to consider Trump as a shining star for the GOP. I just don’t see it.

We don't need cuts in departments. We need cuts of departments as in abolish them. Just cutting them just trims back the rot a tad, like pruning rosebushes so that it comes back more robust than ever.

But he doesn't know the Bible. He is mean. He is not really a conservative. Blah blah. Shut up and vote for Trump you babies. The rest of the pack will change nothing. I love Cruz but he is not going to win. Rubio? Bush? Fiorino? They do not have what it takes this year.

And I wonder how history is going to treat the subject of way back when Trump became President, he ran on his own money and didn’t earn anything from the Government? (My emphasis)

...he ran on social media and news networks........free

Chuck Todd just didn’t know how to get around him....none of them do....he isn’t like the normal politician.

It's called a Paradigm Shift.

(that is a whack on the side of the head with a 2X4 for those in Rio Lina)

The result is that Trump and his 35 or so campaign staff have faced down the GOPe, MDSM, Fox, K-Street, Super Pacs, La Raza and assorted lefties, progressives and communists.

So who do you want in front and center on the Norks, Putin, Nuclear Iran, Obamacare, IRS, BATF, EPA etc.

“Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on American companies that put their factories in other countries.”

How on earth can that be a negative?

“Recent estimates put Trump’s tax reform plan as adding 10 TRILLION to the National Debt.”

Trump’s plan is a retread of the very successful Reagan tax cut. The detractors of Reagan’s plan said the EXACT same thing. Reagan’s tax cut doubled government revenue.

“His position on illegal immigration involves somehow sending over 12 million illegals “home” only to let most of them return.”

Most??? He said those who benefit the United States, and he describes the ones he is talking about. It doesn’t come close to “most”.

“...but he’s expressed support of a single payer system.”

No. he did not. You need to check that.

Abortion - he says he changed his views based on the same reason a friend of mine says he changed.

Assault weapons - he says is for the 2nd amendment, packs heat himself.

There are tens of millions of illegals in the United States. It they obtain amnesty, you want have to worry about conservatism. It will be gone, forever. Trump is the ONLY one who says he will deport. Anything else is amnesty.

He nails it on mental health but failed to link poor declining mental health to our abysmal economy, desperation in young adults trying getting a fair education and those that have to slog through community colleges while juggling part time jobs.

An uplifting economy would uplift our spirits. Why is that missing from Trumps message? And any other message from the other candidates?

Instead we have to watch the administration give cover, over and over and over again for agency overreach (that’s being polite), and individual malfeasance.

A lot of people around here don’t think Trump is a conservative.

I think this is a special time in history for us. A time where we'll either break or become stronger as a nation. We are facing some of the most difficult issues as a country, and I believe this calls for someone who has the ability for gathering the best of the best to advise and lead us. Is he the most conservative---no, probably not, but I think the old saying of "A man for the time", fits Trump to a "T".
