1 Question Could STUMP TRUMP in Debates

Mr. Trump, why do you blame Republicans for the 2008 economic crisis when it was caused by Democrat policies, and if you don't really know what caused that crash, why should we trust you to help steer the economy in the future?

I never said Trump is sure to win.

You have said exactly that.

After Trump wins GOP nomination, he will beat Hillary just like Reagan beat Carter. ~entropy12

Dear Newbie - If you are so stupid that you think both parties weren’t complicit in the actions that brought about the crash, you should remove your account from FR and go sit in a puddle.

Actually, the Democrats had a firm hold on Congress in 2007-2008. That was the reason.

Blaming Bush is a bumper sticker response to a real problem.

The simple fact is that Donald Trump has a long liberal history. None of it is going to go away no matter how desperately some try to silence the questions.

Oh but it will! You just need to click your heels together and wish.

That seems to be the thinking.

Vetting candidates is for chumps. LOL

The difference is Trump has not been elected to anything.

The GOP has the power to affect change. However, they have done
nothing with the power given them. If fact they have enabled Obama.

"I have never regretted my votes as much for any other president as Bush-43."

There are only 2 reasons I voted for the empty hat, Al Gore and John Kerry.

W had worse president of the modern era in the big until O showed up. And considering LBJ, Nixon, Jimmy and Wild Bill that is quite an achievement.

Reagan was a card carrying democrat once, and a union boss to boot.

I guess nowadays, a change of heart, or an epiphany in thinking are not allowed, and one must wear their prior choices like a millstone around their neck, forever.

Of course, “republican” and “conservative” squishes and purist sellouts get a free pass.

Nowadays, a person like Reagan would get ripped up one side and down the other, pilloried, and declared a democrat trojan horse rat traitor by the “conservative” purists here on FR, solely because of his past affiliations with democrats and evil unions.

90% of something, is better than 100% of nothing. Trump resonates with a large swath of the electorate with his “Make America great again” message. He's the only one preaching it, and that says a lot about what he wants for the US.

I agree with you that people can change and the perfect is the enemy of the good. Trump, however, has only one conservative credential: he’s calling out the establishment. That’s it. It’s great theater. Makes you want to cheer. Other than that he’s a guy who’s been buying politicians and supporting liberal policies right up to the moment that it became convenient for his ego to become a republican. Remember, the GOP embraced Blooomberg as a republican as well. If there was any ideological standard for membership in the GOP trump would fail.

Right, but you also said to not hold my breath that Donald would lose steam...

There are many who have led this early...trust me, based on the answers given in NH Tuesday, there should be many more bowing out.

Trump was a big supporter of O’s early on...

He is a moderate himself...he has some good ideas, but he is no different.

I wish Trump would have done what he could to take out McConnell...he did not. In fact, he gave lots of money to defeat the Democrat there in support of Mitch.

Here is the conundrum...do we rely on outsiders to try to break the hold of DC, or do we trust the patriots already on the inside?

After Trump wins GOP nomination, he will beat Hillary just like Reagan beat Carter.

That statement does not say Trump will win 100% guaranteed. You always have to allude to the context. Otherwise you are no better than a liberal democrat. In this case the context was the meme that Trump had lower numbers against Hillary than Cruz. In response to that my statement says after winning nomination (which looks more likely based on RCP poll averages which you use) Trump will come from behind and beat Hillary. Are you going to send me a congratulatory card when Trump wins republican nomination?

Well, why didn’t he side up with the democrats? He could have just as easily threw his hat into the ring as a democrat, and crushed hillary and sanders without even trying.

No, I think Trump actually has some morals and principles, and he has enough personal wealth to where he can’t be readily swayed by outside influence. That makes him dangerous to the status quo in DC.

The MSM can’t shut him out like they’re doing with Cruz and Walker, he could buy out their network and broadcast Trump 24/7.
