I saw The Doobie Brothers and Don Felder (Eagles) last night and they still sound great.
Eagles are my all-time favorite. I never get tired of listening to them. I'm a believer in rock keeping us young!
I remember when Jim Morrison was arrested for lewd behavior in Miami during a performance.
These days no one would have batted an eye.
Love Chicago - saw them once in Miami. And the Moody Blues had so much talent.
Why? Because I’m a bit of a practical joker myself, sometimes, and I figure this thread would be a perfect setup for Rick Rolling. Be assured, it was nothing personal about you!
Shocked to hear that. “Get over it” is pretty conservative sounding.
Guns N Roses here. But I’m 46, so that might explain why. Beatles, Queen and Led Zeppelin round out the top 4.
You wouldn’t have been Rickrolled, and I don’t want to spoil the secret. The link is to a decent band and song, I’ll give away that much.
One of the largest hit catalogues in the history of Rock & Roll and not one vote for U2....I’ll throw in the Doors too. I think a lot of choices are related to the age of the person.
Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band
CCR.
Both great shows.
The Eagles in AC in July.
Too many great shows in my 58 yrs to choose from.
Who
Nice combination...Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire have toured together in the past. I saw Chicago in Virginia Beach about four years ago, and they seemed to have lost a step. Of course, it was an outdoor venue, at the end of a long tour, so the band was probably tired and the acoustics were less than optimum. They will be back in the area in early September (with Earth, Wind and Fire) and I’ll definitely be in the audience.
Dave Clark Five I thought was as good as the Beatles. They just didn’t have nowhere near as many songs, or the diversity. Stones, with their rougher, cooler edge, IMO, are far better than the Beatles.
Best Band EVER....Jerry Garcia and the Grateful DEAD!!!!
There was a great wide range of music to choose from and enjoy. Today not so much and everything sounds the same and talent lacking.
The 1960’s and 1970’s were times of so much change, the music reflected it ,and the talent out there was phenomenal.
I personally liked a lot of bands my all time favorite is The Allman Brothers but I could go on and on about other individuals and bands. It's a time that will never be seen again but the music lives on and I think finds a new audience all the time.
Cream, no question, the original and still the best power group.
They are legends in rock music, with a distinctively American flavor (and a southern one at that!).
LOL. You may like it, but I’d hardly call it “rock.” You are just as likely to hear that on adult contemporary stations these days.
Great question and tough answer. I would narrow it down to the following
Metallica, Korn, The Police, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, G & R, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Creedence Clearwater Revival (aka CCR).
I’ll second that. Nobody else comes close. Good guitars, good vocals and a lot of songs are historically sound, they usually sing about stuff that matters.
Steely Dan
