On the first day we saw the North Charleston, South Carolina, shooting video of Walter Scott by Officer Michael Slager we were as shocked as everyone. However, as research now indicates there is much more to the story.
What we cover here in the latest update might just change the entire way the story continues

Taser darts appear to be lodged in Slager's chest and leg, with wires everywhere being dragged away by Scott.
Be sure to also see the 2 enhanced videos in the comment thread. It appears Scott indeed may have turned Slager's own taser against him, and after you analyze what is in this post you may wind up arguing for exoneration and acquittal. Wow.
Oops, did not catch autocorrect typo, Officer Slayer should read Officer SLAGER.
Full of taser darts doesn’t really make a difference. The man was running away and not any longer dangerous to the officer or anyone else. Saying it was a good shoot is saying that revenge is an exonerating motive and many gang slayings would be justified.
If Slager truthfully believed, even if mistakenly believed, that Scott still had control of the taser while fleeing, and the darts were in him, then yes, he was in danger, and he is innocent. If all that is not true, there’s still tons of reasonable doubt as to guilt. Your remark about revenge is unfounded at this point.
We knew about the taser darts on day one. How is this in any way a “game changer?”
So what you are saying that it is OK to shoot someone fleeing, in the back?
Just wanted to make sure.
No, we did not.
If someone just Tazed me and I still had a gun I would shoot very part of the SOB.
Guy running away. Cop opens up. I still see a problem for the cop here. At no point does the cop look like he’s in a kind of trouble that indicates deadly force being necessary.
T
The why does the officer throw the taser behind him before shooting?
Who's "We"? I think the majority of people who paid attention to this only heard about the dropped taser - not that it had been discharged.
Sure
"But the video, which was taken by a bystander and provided to The New York Times by the Scott familys lawyer, presents a different account. The video begins in the vacant lot, apparently moments after Officer Slager fired his Taser. Wires, which carry the electrical current from the stun gun, appear to be extending from Mr. Scotts body as the two men tussle and Mr. Scott turns to run."
How long are those wires? How much charge is in a tazer device? Are you saying Scott could have zapped Slager as he ran away? What is the distance between the two men when Slager started shooting? Could Slager really have felt physically threatened at that point?
If Slager really was zapped by his own device, and maybe in the throes of extreme pain, then perhaps the charge is no longer first degree murder, but second. But it still appears to be murder.
See post 13.
Where’d you get the idea He did that? Scott did that, or that’s just how it flew out from the struggle. Slager may have truly believed Scott still had it when fleeing, especially the way the wires went with him. Read/analyze the information in this post.
I recommend digesting the analysis in this post.
Read the post
I recommend reading the analysis in the post, along with the videos in the comments section
Why didn't Slager's police report say he had been shot with the Tazer? And if he had been shot with the Tazer then how was he able to calmly take aim and shoot a fleeing, unarmed man in the back?
