Liberals across the country rejoiced today as Ted Cruz announced that he is officially running for president, thus ensuring a plentiful gaffe harvest for progressive writers like myself to feed upon for months.
The GOP has pretty much nothing to gain from Cruzs decision to throw his hat in the ring. In fact, if anything, it will probably hurt them, as Cruz will only serve to solidify the idea that Republicans are anti-women, anti-LGBT, and anti-immigrant.
Yes, Ted Cruz, the son of an immigrant from Cuba, is anti-immigrant.
As a Latino, I can tell you right now that Latinos wont be lining up to vote for Ted Cruz just because of his last name or his heritage. Latino voters look at the issues, and judging by Cruzs record, hes going to have a hard time winning the community over.
Here are five reasons why Latinos would never vote for him:
1. He is Anti-Immigrant
Ted Cruz has particularly harsh views on immigration. He rose to power in Texas on a staunch opponent of amnesty policies. It would seem that having an immigrant father hasnt influenced Cruzs treatment of other immigrants. Maybe thats why in his 2012 senate race in Texas, Latinos overwhelmingly voted for his opponent.
2. He Doesnt Believe in Climate Change
Latinos see themselves as committed to the protection of the environment. A 2013 poll found that 76 percent of Latinos agree that the planet is heating up, 14 percent higher than whites. Latino communities have also been forced out of their homes due to fracking. Cruzs belief that science doesnt support the theory of global warming will be a tough sell to Latinos.
3.. He is Anti-Obamacare
In 2010, nearly one in three uninsured people in the United States was Hispanic or Latino. Employer-based insurance is the most common form of insurance for Latinos to have, but they are far less likely to have it than their non-Latino peers. Ted Cruz will do everything he can to repeal Obamacare, which offers benefits for Latinos.
4. He is Bad for Education
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) has done amazing things for Latino students. It has given them a chance at a better future. Since DACA, more Latino parents believe their children will get an education past high school. Ted Cruz would put an end to that.
5. He is Ted Cruz
Ted Cruz has made it clear he doesnt plan on reaching out to the Latino community. His track record speaks to that, and a cursory glance at his political career reveals that he is, to put it delicately, off his rocker.
So, no, Latinos will not be voting for Ted Cruz.
Nor should anyone else.

> Cruz is not elligible, He is foreign born. Conatitution rquires native born. I wont vote for him.
If a Kenyan Muslim Manchurian Candidate who produces a fake birth certificate, has a fake social security number, and a slew of people that knew about his true background come up dead (including his own grandmother who just happened to die on the eve of election day and many more which I could list but it would fill up quite a bit of space) can get elected then Cruz, whose mother, WAS a U.S. citizen should damn sure be able to run...
1. He’s Republican
2. He’s Republican
3. He’s Republican
4. He’s Republican
5. He’s Republican
I checked and Tommix is apparently in his late 80s, no joke. Still, he should know better with posting trollbait like that.
With his pissy tone, it sounded like he was attempting to rape the Senator.
JP B-Rammer.....wonder what the “B” stands for?
1. He is Anti-Immigrant
He is not anti-immigrant, he is Pro Law!
2. He Doesnt Believe in Climate Change
Go any place the 'new' Latinos gather, look at all the trash! Visit Mexico, look at the trash, visit other Central Americian countries, look at the trash. Tell me again how they care about the planet.
3. He is Anti-Obamacare
Obamacare will hit home when someone is too poor to buy for Obmacare and then has to pay a tax for failure to buy ObamaCare.
4. He is Bad for Education
The majority of Latinos do not value education, so to them what difference would this matter?
You won’t vote for him? Well, he might as well withdraw if he doesn’t have your vote...
> 3. He is Anti-Obamacare

Already there due to this administration’s fixation and assault on the white Caucasian male and success envy. Prior to The One’s ascension I was exceptionally busy and pretty successful. It took him about 4 years but little by little I watched what he did impact my profession and earnings until I hit the bottom of the barrel the last 2 years and I’m not sitting on my duff and having pity parties about it. i’ve been trying new things and ideas and looked for other employment to turn this ship around but just haven’t hit the right note yet...
The 5 reasons liberal hispanics won’t vote for Cruz seem exactly the same as the 5 reasons liberal whites, blacks, Asians, and Martians won’t vote for him.
The more I hear about Cruz, the more I like him. His worst quality is that he looks uncannily like Bill Murray.
Good for you and best of luck.
yourn post is not ledgggeeeaaabbbllleee, and if it were, your facts are wrrrrooonnngggg.
Thank you.
Infrequent poster, apparently...

1) Anti-Immigrant
Nope, wants immigration to proceed in an orderly fashion
2) Doesn’t believe in climate change
Most politicians who say that they believe in climate change don’t illustrate such belief, by their actions, which speak way louder than their words professing belief. Consider this for a minute, if Obama really believed or was that concerned with climate change and the CO2 emissions of his actions, then why would he fly on a separate massive CO2 spewing jumbo jet than his wife when they were both on their way to Los Angeles, emitting twice the CO2 for the family just to both travel to the same major U.S. city. By that route, the average American family emits less CO2 just by sharing the flight with their family. Even moreso, why has Al Gore, Kerry, etc. not actually bothered with teleconferencing from a local office. Which is quite doable with today’s powerful internet connection and encryption. Why is it that a measly electrician such as myself can easily figure out that a teleconference easily produces less CO2 than a Jumbo Jet flight, and could be used in place of a flight to conserve CO2 as a goodwill gesture. In short, Obama and a lot of other politicians are well shown to be utter hypocrites on climate change. Maybe Ted Cruz isn’t a believer, but unlike plenty of “believers” he is actually being honest about what he believes on the issue.
3) Anti ACA,
A long, complex beaurucratic bill that plays favorites when there should not honestly, statistically speaking, be any.
4) Bad for education
Having illegitimate children as a teenager is bad for the educational status of a lot of young women, which disproportionately occurs among Latinos and Blacks, this problem could be reduced if plenty of girls at least made their boyfriends use a condom, which is something incredibly cheap and which can be ordered online if you don’t want to deal with someone face to face in buying such.
Second, it’s not cool to have people with undocumented health status in public school with the rest of the children. Unknown health records are an awful sin for any regular student, why not apply the same standard for immigrants as well?
5) He is Ted Cruz
Which is saying about nada since all the issues I have discussed and provided some pretty good rebuttals/counterpoints for.
Regarding trash, does anyone remember what was left over all over D.C. after Obama’s Innauguration? I sure do, and it was a smack in the face to decades’ worth of common sense about keeping a good appearance to a public place.
3) Anti ACA,

Well the only issue I have with this (and it’s a big one) is that the GOP is not pro-America job.
The ACA currently has built a large “others” category around quite a large portion of Americans.
The GOP needs to become strongly pro-American job, if they’re going to oppose national healthcare.
I haven’t yet seen that. So we have opposition to the safety net, but not support for the alternative.
Which is AMERICAN JOBS.
GOP needs badly, to support more American jobs.
All the things the author listed tells me as a conservative, to VOTE FOR CRUZ. If that pisses the liberals off, I’m all over it and so should everyone else be.
Cruz’s big problem is not the demodummie liberals, its the RINO assholes who fear him the most. When the dust begins to settle, unfortunately I DO NOT see Cruz as getting the nod from the rino’s.
