Please pray for my uncle. This is a shock and the outcome looks dire.
He’s seen all of that. He has actually spent time in a rehab facility after his hip replacement. He’s heard all of the stories, and his orthopedic surgeon has cajoled him. The man is stubborn.
Hello!
My cousin was just at our house, and we prayed together! If I could humbly offer a help... Maybe you could step in and contact the Chaplain, or his parish priest; bring him a Brown Scapular; Holy Water or Holy oil, and pray in his room, if not with family, then alone!
My Mom and Dad were both the youngest in their families, so I know how dear the elders can be, and how hurtful to see them in pain, or feeling as if the time has come for them to complete their earthly journey.
This is the greatest gift you can offer! May God be with your uncle, ease his pain, and give him peace! May you and your family be blessed beyond measure! Know also that God has given you people here who are lifting your uncle up in prayer, a beautiful gift of God’s unimaginable Love!
May His Peace be with you and your family!
I am so glad you posted this Our Father. Some here grew up saying the Notre Pere and Pater Naster and it can be very soothing.
It is a gift from God to have your kindness and concern extended to her as well! So, also, will be our prayers!
One step at a time. Take each moment as God gives it to you. Your uncle will be able to recieve IV antibiotics and respiratory therapy if this is the case. This is not uncommon in the elderly after an injury; it is sometimes the result of a lack of position change because of the injury. You or your parents can speak with his caregivers about this: they will be able to help, better knowing his condition and how to position him. God will guide you, and give you the strength you need inside, as well as guiding your uncle's caregivers! Trust in Him!
Praying in a language you don't ordinarily speak, is wonderful for clarifying and focusing the mind.

Prayers on the way.
Lord Jesus, be with Thy servant and grant him healing, and comfort his family.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Prayers lifted for your uncle....
I want to thank all the wonderful, caring FReepers. You also indirectly helped my mom and my cousin (daughter mentioned earlier), knowing so many prayers came in on behalf of my uncle from people we really don’t know!
Here is an update on what has happened today (not all in chronological order):
Visited Uncle Billy again today with my mom and dad. He is pretty much in the same state as yesterday. Michael (cousin, his nephew) also came a bit later to visit and left with us. Michael also prayed over Uncle Billy as did my mother.
Before visiting him in the hospital, we went to find out about his friend, Ruth. We were very concerned she might be in trouble, too. My parents at least know where she lived. Her neighbors came out and told us what they knew. Ruth was having chest pains Wed (Christmas Eve) and called out of her door for someone to help, because Uncle Billy was with her but had fallen at the same time. Neighbors called 911 and came for Ruth, and helped with Uncle Billy but he was sentient and refused to go to the hospital. We do not know exactly what happened next, but Ruth is in the hospital just below Uncle Billy now! (Yes, just the next floor down a few doors away!) The neighbors did say that on Christmas, Uncle Billy had fallen again. Did not catch how they found out he was unconscious in Ruth’s house, since he could not call for help, but in any case 911 came for him on Christmas day, and he was in the hospital by 4:30 (per nursing staff). He was sentient when they took him to the hospital, but later became confused and has been sleeping continuously for more than a day.
We visited friend Ruth first, and while she looks very healthy, they are keeping her there until her heart readings come back to normal. She seems to be falling into dementia. She was sure she was working a job and was in her office there, and did not know why the nurses wouldn’t let her leave work. She wanted to know if she could have a key for her office, etc. Anyway, Ruth did not bring up Uncle Billy and neither did we. She recognized my mom.
We still do not know Uncle Billy’s newer home address, so are not sure we can try to find any crucial info needed for him. Not to mention clothes, wallet, etc.
I talked again to his daughter (currently the POC) tonight and she was told her father is officially in a coma (that makes sense). He does not have pneumonia but they are giving him some drugs to help clear his airway as he cannot clear his throat.
She had a priest actually give Last Rites to him. We were not aware of any of this tonight there.
The good news is that finally family around the country are becoming aware of this. We need to track down some info. Maybe we can sleuth at Ruth’s house and see if he has any ID there to help lead us to his apartment, other ID (Military service, etc).
Thank you all so much for your care!
Continued prayers for your uncle.
