If youre a terror group attempting a coup of an unstable country whats the last thing you want to see? Probably citizens gathering and taking up arms against you. You may be able to scare some uniformed members of Iraqs military who may not believe in their cause anyway, but eventually enough people are going to get fed up, organize, and fight back.
ISIS (The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) looks like they are attempting to nip that in the bud early on. According to The Telegraph, this is one of ISIS new laws for the parts of Iraq it now controls [emphasis mine],
Any one of its members who breach this promise will have their hands cut off.
No drugs, no alcohol and no cigarettes allowed, it added.
No public gathering other than those organised by ISIS will be allowed at any stage. No guns will be allowed outside of its ranks.
All tribal leaders and sheikhs in the area have been warned not to co-operate with the state.
Isnt that exactly the type of laws that gun control extremists such as Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer want to see passed in the United States.
ISIS continues to make gains in Iraq as the group has seized abandoned military equipment as well as tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars from regional banks. The group says their goal is to establish an Islamic Caliphate in the area that is currently Iraq and Syria.
Monday, June 9, 2014 image taken from video obtained from the Iraqi Military, which has been authenticated based on its contents and other AP reporting, an Iraqi army tank fires towards militants during clashes in in the northern city of Mosul, Iraq. Insurgents on Tuesday pressed their efforts to seize effective control of Iraqs second-largest city of Mosul on Tuesday after Iraqi security forces abandoned their posts and militants overran the provincial government headquarters and other key buildings, dealing a serious blow to Baghdads attempts to tame a widening insurgency in the country.AP
Heaven forbid they should be able to fight back as they’re led toward the slaughter.
Thanks for the ping/your son; the post; the thread.
Only to be turned on US troops.
While that is clearly not an “Iraqi tank” - it appears to be a Humvee with a turret mounted on top, probably with an M2 .50 Caliber MG, if they are indeed an Iraqi Army vehicle - and not one seized by the terrorist ISIS forces - then good on them.
They need to protect their people. Running away leaves their people open to slaughter.
ISIS you cant rob banks and steal money, but we can.
ISIS you cant have a gun, but we can.
US Government - you can’t ....we can
US Government - you can’t ....we can
