Two national chain restaurants have asked that customers refrain from bringing firearms into their establishments, saying the weapons can create an uncomfortable atmosphere for other diners.
Sonic Drive-In and Chili's Grill & Bar both issued statements Friday requesting that customers keep their guns out of their restaurants even if they have an open carry permit.
The request, which stops short of an outright ban, came after members of the gun-rights group Open Carry Texas walked into Texas outlets of Sonic and Chili's carrying assault rifles.
Dallas-based Brinker International, which owns the Chili's chain, said in a statement it was dedicated to providing "a safe environment for our guests and team members."
"We recognize that the open carry of firearms creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and is not permitted under many local liquor laws," spokeswoman Ashley Johnson said....

I need a list of places not to go.
Correct...Private busineses may set their own policies...
Private citizens may set theirs...
My policy: I don’t patronize businesses where my gun is not welcome...
Easy, peasy...
They never heat their food correctly ... ever.
Both of the Sonic drive-ins around here closed within 3 years of their opening.
Tried Chilis once, never went back. If I want overpriced, pre-prepared food that came out of a vacuum-sealed bag in the freezer, I’ll go to Applebees. (which I only visit for an occasional “Perfect Margarita”)
Ok, no more Chili’s or Sonic for me.
The Sonics I’ve seen are drive-ins, throw-back to the old days. Really not sure about this story, I think they are headquartered out of Oklahoma too. If you have a rifle rack in your car/truck, are they going to call the cops or what??
Applebees also has this policy
The Dallas reference was for Chilis.
I didn’t mention Chilis.
Oh come on.. Really? Bunch of guys walk into a restaurant carrying assault rifles and you take issue with the restaurant? This is nothing more than a small group of people picking a fight.
I used to shoot a pistol match on Sunday and when it was over about 75% of the shooters went to Sonic before heading home. No telling how many accidental and intentional shootings we were responsible for in all those years with our vehicles loaded with handguns. Offhand, I can recall... zero.
Just need to clarify something.
The Open Carry advocates walked into a Restaurant carrying Select Fire Assault Weapons? Were they from the BLM?
No kidding. Fringe element hurting the cause if ever I've seen it (IF it's true).

Sonic is not a restaurant but a drive in. You are in your car what can they say?? How would they even know? Chili’s, never been and had no plans to be so no problem there.
Show me in the 2nd Amendment where it states when and where I can carry my weapon. I’ll wait.
Assault rifles?
They must have been defective because no one was assaulted.
And yes I do take issue with the restaurant. Because they are dumber then a bag of clams. As they found out a few days later when criminals robbed them and beat up their employees. What you want to bet if those guys with the big "oh so scary" rifles had been there the robbers would have picked some other place to rob?
Re: Pre-prepared food. Olive Garden is the same way.
