Will American Soldiers Fire on U.S. Citizens?

I was doing a radio interview this morning and the host asked me why the Department of Homeland Security needed 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. The easy answer for me was, “They don’t.” Of course the follow-up question for him was, “Then why are they buying it?”

And that’s the billion-dollar question isn’t it. What is the federal government going to do with all that ammo? Why do they need it? Why are they buying it? It’s unprecedented. Are we on the cusp of physical domination by the United States Federal Government? And, if so, how will the American people react?

The talk show host also asked me, “If the people were to rebel, how could they ever possibly hope to prevail against a government so big, so huge, so powerful and so ruthless?”

He had a good point.

I mean, let’s face it: they have Predator drones, spy satellites, and sophisticated online surveillance and communication systems. How could the American people ever hope to prevail in a fighting war?

Sure, we barely prevailed over the British in our original war for independence, but that was different. Great Britain was based thousands of miles away, and it took 30 days to cross the Atlantic. That was a huge benefit to the colonists. We no longer have that. The federal government is right here, right now, and firmly cemented into state and local law enforcement. The talk show host argued there was no hope of prevailing over a government so massive and powerful.

Was he right?

I brought up the Taliban and the Viet Cong as recent examples of how to defeat a large military in a techno-driven war. In the end, the Taliban will win, just as the Viet Cong did. In truth, only three percent of the colonists actively fought against the British in our war for independence. But three percent was enough.

But the big question is this: Are there still three percent of the American population with the courage and resolve to fight against an out-of-control, tyrannical government? My short answer is: I think so.

Of course, we all have our lines in the sand.

1. I will fight when they force gun registration. 2. I will fight when they come for my guns. 3. I will fight when they come for me.

No matter where you fall on that list, it puts you in the precarious position of defying the all-powerful Obama of Oz. Who is the man behind the curtain, pulling the strings, calling the shots, planning out the final moves to dismantle our liberty?

Is it Barack Obama or some other unseen dark and evil minion?

I don’t know.

the bulk of the military is on the other side of the planet and will be kept there when the SHTF, However thoroughly purged it is the Committee or whatever it is does not trust the military. That is in leftist DNA. Even the USSR had a separate internal army to deal with internal problems, an army that was even more tightly politically controlled than the Red Army.

The officers, or at least a certain percentage of them would probably be willing to give the order; but never forget it is your husbands/wives, brothers/sisters, aunts/uncles, nephews/nieces, friends/neighbors in the enlisted ranks who would have to execute those orders.
All of those people are volunteers who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of The United States; not the President, not the generals, not whatever would be dictator or government organ that decides it is in charge or control.
Those enlisted folks are better educated, more highly trained, and just as dedicated to their duty as any generation we have ever produced, remember there are no conscripts in this military. They are all aware, that it is their duty and responsibility to refuse any unlawful order they might receive from higher command.
It would not be the first time nor the last time an officer or civilian Politician who tried to give such an unlawful order had a fatal accident in the field.

Install a godless gay military and when Obama tells them to use live rounds on American citizens, they will.

I think you’re right that this regime is waiting on a tea party white boy to do something. Bammy’s upset his gun grab was shot down(couldn’t resist) and he’s itching for a fight.

I recall his phrase to “get in their faces” during the 08 campaign. He best not get in mine.

I will fight when they come to close my church. The HHS mandate and persecution of Christians in the military are symptoms. The relentless attacks on Christians in the media, entertainment industry, and mass culture are designed to create an atmosphere in which persecution will seem acceptable. Homosexuality and abortion will be the twin clubs used to outlaw Christian teaching and padlock Christian institutions. Some Christians may choose to turn the other cheek and I respect that. But not me. And please say it can cannot happen here: after Gosnell and a president and Senate that endorse homosexual “marriage”, anything is possible.

In all the talk of “civil war”, let us not forget what happened within “the border states”, between those aligned with the Union, and those aligned with the South. There was a lot of blood spilled, families split, and not many uniformed folks doing the actions.

The next time, there shall be ‘border’ states, but not on a defineable combat line, but more which states will be called ‘free’, as to those states that will be called ‘oppressive’. Right now, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, California, and Colorado can be rightly labeled ‘oppressive’. Texas, Montana, Kansas, can be labeled ‘free’.

Sorry; can’t name them, they were smart enough to just shoot and shut up.
Would you shout it from the rooftops if you had to do it?
I know I wouldn’t; just take care of business and move on.
Just another battle casualty you know; to bad-so sad.

Oh yea....I knew a police officer who said that when certain really bad guys get off on a technicality.....they drive him up to the deep mountains and let him loose among the mountain people. ...never to be seen again.

Keeping in mind that the police never go there otherwise.

The world’s largest standing army....and that’s ONLY the REGISTERED hunters

Thank you for mentioning this one critical fact. It's one that even most Freepers seem to overlook.

I've been following this conversation (like a great many of you) for a lot of years now, and have noted that, by best estimates, there are approximately 100 million citizen gun owners in this country. Best estimates also say that those 100 million citizens possess an estimated 300 million firearms.

Frankly, it simply isn't possible to reduce a population of 300 million people to absolute slavery, when a full third of them are so armed.

In the American Revolution, approximately 3% actually took up arms against the British. Remember that they were officially British citizens at the time. Today, that percentage would likely be much higher, as the government attempting to enslave us wouldn't be some far away kingdom, but a government composed of our own citizens, right here on our own ground. That fact alone makes it much more personal and volatile.

If I had to guess, I'd say that at least 10% of the gun owning public would not stand down in such a fight, and would be willing to lay down their lives to support their families and fellow countrymen. That's 10 million able bodied citizens against a probable 1.5 million armed federal troops, many of whom would be torn between obeying orders to subjugate their fellow Americans, and adhering to their oaths to the Constitution (and their natural inborn loyalty to family and friends).

I'm sure that this scenario has been war gamed out by our military numerous times, and each and every time, they've determined that it's not possible to overcome the US civilian population by force.

My prediction is that they will never try such a thing, as long as Americans are armed. Even a fool understands that they have no chance of success with such dismal odds. No - they'll have to disarm us first, and that won't happen without bringing on the fight they cannot win.

Admit it, you made a statement you can't back up with facts.

You're not talking about "resisting an unlawful order". You're talking about murder.

But once the shooting does begin it will end quickly, IMHO. At least the “folks in uniform vs. the folks”. When the uniforms become targets they come off damn fast. Witnesses told me the PDF couldn’t get out of uniform fast enough. They were streaming through yards and allys leaving a trail of shirts and trousers. At that point it’s chaos. The elites think their paid guards will protect them. Wrong! Why risk your neck for some wealthy assclown while your own family and ones you love are on their own. When chaos comes it will be universal. I suspect it will take us days if not weeks to “diminish the numbers” of folks who just refuse to behave...

In resistance warfare the officers and politicians are the primary targets.

Threads like this are always interesting, such a variety of opinions and new variables thought of.

But it is guaranteed that should the worst happen, it will be ugly beyond what most of us can honestly imagine. Which is why I think that most [good] people will hold off until they have no other choice. It’s just human nature [again, for good people] to not do it until there is no alternative. Which is why IMO, a lot of good people would die before the resistance became serious and widespread.

Don’t forget that a good portion of those 100 million are progressives. I’d guess at least 20 million. This isn’t going to be a clean sweep.

When the bullets start flying and electricity becomes intermittent that there three groups of people who are at the top of list for burial, the elderly, the infirm, and the very young. If you are on a dialysis machine or an oxygen concentrator or use medicines that rapidly spoil if not refrigerated, you are in serious trouble.

If you are a nonprepper, you will be out on the street looking for food because one of the first things that will come to a serious slowdown will be the trucking industry. “If you’ve got it, a truck brought it” is not just a cute saying. It’s the truth, the full truth and nothing but the truth. There won’t be many truckers who will feel it is their patriotic duty to haul a load of fresh vegetables to your town if there is shooting on the highways between the pickup and destination points.

In a couple of days all gas deliveries to the local gas stations will have ceased. Nobody I know will drive a truck that is guaranteed to explode when the odds of a tracer round puncturing the side of it are high.

So think twice and then think again before firing that first round because it may just be the one that starts the ball rolling towards lower census numbers.

Your prophesies are correct. There have been many good men and women who have already died. U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry is one name that comes to mind.
