While the title says it all, I thought a goodbye was in order.
While I've been a FReeper for well over a decade, I must declare that it is time to part ways. While I have the greatest respect for a great many of you, the days where I can in good conscience remain silent about the issues that set me apart from the rest of FReeperdom have past. For clarity, or perhaps catharsis, I'm not entirely certain which, I'll lay them out on the table an call the ZOT™ down upon myself.
The racism: I just can't handle it anymore. FR has become increasingly racist since President Obama took office, and enforcement has dropped. Now, not a single crime can be reported with an "amish" comment, and I've yet to see a post express embarrassment or shame when lo and behold sometimes the perpetrators turned out to be lily white.
Homosexuality: FR is on the wrong side of history on this one, and I'll just leave it at that.
Mostly though, it's the hate. More and more posts reference violent solutions to political disagreements. Some subtly couched, others make no pretense. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I read in the morning paper that a FReeper murdered a federal bureaucrat or a federal judge.
I've learned so much, from so many of you, and for that I'm grateful. I genuinely and truly wish all of you well, and sincerely hope you all live out the rest of your lives in happiness.

I always viewed the Amish comments more as a inner-city/criminal versus country/law-abiding commentary, not a racial one. Amish are largely a law abiding group, so to call lawbreakers 'Amish' has an irony. If you spot 'racism' in *that*, you might be imagining the world as you actually are.
Personally, I don't see the world in terms of race, so I am not quick to jump to racial conclusions.
As far as your comment that 'we are on the wrong side of history' when it comes to homosexuality, then I guess God is 'on the wrong side of history' too. ALL major religions view homosexuality as an abomination. Further, other cultures have embraced homosexuality, and promptly collapsed. Nossir, history actually shows YOU are on the wrong side of history.
So, based on the above: One that shows that the racism you percieve may actually be the racism you possess, and the other that shows that you are in an embrace of the perversion of society, I have to agree.

as far as the disappearances of few faceless bureaucrats or liberal judges go, i would be hard pressed to conjure up an argument that proved i cared(ever read a novel named Unintended Consequences?) as far as operas on FR which have been many,yours may be the lamest based on your lib-like hot buttons. I am on FR hours a day and I have never seen a comment like “ all blacks are suspicious and they kill.”. Find the thread that was posted on. Real Black conservatives would not have any problem on FR.

Do I think it's inevitable that gay marriage will be legalized across the country? Yes. Do I think we who are opposed will be portrayed as those opposed to the Civil Rights movement even though the two are completely different? Yes. Will we be scorned as though we are racists even though the two are completely different? Yes. I think they'll win the battle, but God has the final say, and some day, maybe in five years, maybe hundreds if not thousands of years from now, the world will end and he'll have his say. On that day, they'll find they've lose the war. God is pure love and goodness. There is a reason why he made us male and female and ordained marriage between the two. That is his plan for humanity, and while I feel for those who are struggling with SSA, I can't reject God and support gay marriage.

You embrace far too many of our political foes. Bob J, for example -- a neocon power-grabber who ended up becoming an absolute enemy of Free Republic, and someone who slanders and 'doxes' people like some sort of internet bully, and yet you support him. Now you are supportive of someone who doesn't understand the moral wrongs and the underpinning of perversion associated with homosexuality, and who imagines racism here on the part of management.
Maybe you are just a nice, too trusting guy, or maybe -- instead -- you are allied with the moderate and the centerist crowd, the 'I can see no wrong with the other sides position' crowd.
