Think back to the last time you listened to the nightly news and heard a story about an eight year old girl that was missing for two weeks, and then found in a shallow grave with evidence of having been raped. The grave turned out to be in the back yard of a “person of interest” identified within a day of the child’s disappearance. Why? Because he was a registered pedophile.
When you heard that story, did you wish our society had tried harder to help the child rapist-turned-murderer? Or did you wish we were a stronger, less tolerant society?

It shouldn’t. All libertarians have to understand that Virtue is always necessary for Freedom. You can NEVER have a civil society without Ethics-—and the only Ethical system which elevated women and the innocence of children and equality for all under the Rule of Law—is Christian Ethics.
The idea that you can separate human beings from a moral system is bizarre and stupid. Without Ethics, you can not have Justice (Virtue) and no possibility of any efficient economic system, because Trust wouldn’t exist.
All geniuses since Socrates (and Founders) and Hayek-—have stated—without Public Virtue, there is no freedom. ALL REPUBLICS (Machiavelli in Discourses) stated that they had to promote public Virtue.
Fear is what is promoted in tyrannies. BTW, Machiavelli stated in his Discourses that it is essential to promote Virtue in a military.
Why do you think Vice is being forced onto our troops today????? (Unconstitutional to promote Vice through laws in a Just country)!!!! It's not a question of the child being more important than an adult. The point is that a child is vastly more vulnerable than an adult. Such acts cannot be "unseen" and cannot be put into perspective by a child too young to understand or have formed a stable self-image. It warps the personality of the victim for life, causing great suffering to the victim and her or his family members, including any future spouse, children, or in some cases, future victims of the abused person, since some are compelled to repeat the behavior. Some others fall into a pattern of seeking abuse or engaging in promiscuity or prostitution, in the absence of a supportive family and sources of therapy. In some cases, the cuckolded parent will either disbelieve the child or blame the child.
Society would be much better served by executing pedophiles and also pornographers dealing in pedophilia. This behavior needs to be labeled as completely out of bounds.

Semantics to be sure, but conceptually the same - thinking and acting are different. The real problem is that so many get out time and again and end up "evolving" to the worst stages. Unless the judiciary becomes accountable, it is here to stay.
and 19 year olds should know what the definition of maturity and adult is. If they have no self-control, patience and good judgement they probably shouldn’t be walking aroun on their own.

This is partially true now, if you say I would like to kill and are deemed mentaally dangerous you are remanded to a psychiatric unit, often against your will and lose the right to own or carry a firearm.

Yesterday, an Oklahoma judge sentenced 66 year old Gary Doby to life in prison for molesting children via skype. He plead guilty, as did his female accomplice. Under Oklahoma law he will first become eligible for parole when he is 104 so Mr. Doby will eventually die in prison. Because he has been convicted of sexually abusing children he will spend every day of that sentence in solitary confinement.
That’s much better than the usual sentence, but I still think it shows evidence that we are unclear in our values. I think protecting children when they are at their absolute most vulnerable is more important than supporting the lives of people who have demonstrated a total lack of humanity.
Keeping pedophiles locked up at taxpayer expense, as if there is some intrinsic value to their lives worth protecting, makes no sense to me. Especially when keeping evil alive and well always carries with it the small possibility that it will someday again become loose in the world and wreak havoc, such as ten years from now when some parole rule changes. The death penalty is permanent, just like the damage done by the pedophile. It matches up nicely.
