Ahead of December 21, which marks the conclusion of the 5,125-year "Long Count" Mayan calendar, panic buying of candles and essentials has been reported in China and Russia, along with an explosion in sales of survival shelters in America. In France believers were preparing to converge on a mountain where they believe aliens will rescue them.
The precise manner of Armageddon remains vague, ranging from a catastrophic celestial collision between Earth and the mythical planet Nibiru, also known as Planet X, a disastrous crash with a comet, or the annihilation of civilisation by a giant solar storm.
In America Ron Hubbard, a manufacturer of hi-tech underground survival shelters, has seen his business explode.
"We've gone from one a month to one a day," he said. "I don't have an opinion on the Mayan calendar but, when astrophysicists come to me, buy my shelters and tell me to be prepared for solar flares, radiation, EMPs (electromagnetic pulses) ... I'm going underground on the 19th and coming out on the 23rd. It's just in case anybody's right."(continued)

My FReeper birthday
I’m a FReeper of the epoxy clips.
The Mayan Calendar does not have an ending
I’ll be on a ship in the middle of the Caribbean..
I guess the Bermuda Triangle might be a danger...
other than that...
Do the Mayans know about this ???
This is good news!
Usually, the stupid people don’t suffer any consequences for their stupidity!
No one can possibly know what will happen. There is significance in an end of a culture’s calendar, however.
My calendar ends on December 31st.
My daughter’s birthhday. She’s put up with this nonsense for the past fsw years and she’s pretty sick of it.
I’m putting my money on some kind of Obama-caused s_ _ _ storm.
I just think those Mayans or whoever just ran out of room on that calender of theirs. Then too, this 2012 year thing? Different groups figure different times from the birth of Yashua. Who's to say who is correct? I say just party on.
I am not panicked about the Mayan Calendar thing. I am more worried about what my wife is doing with her credit card and what the simpletons in Washington are doing with the public’s credit card.
The apocalypse will be fully realized when I get the post Christmas bill and when the people of the US realize that their credit card is maxed out.
even crazy Wikipedia has debunked it.
There is no ending to the Calendar...
as a matter of fact....
1 Alautun is 63,081,429 YEARS
It hasn’t been needed yet though.
I have way to many things to worry about to be concerned about the end of the world.
Matthew 24:36
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
No reason to panic. If you live everyday as if the return of Jesus is imminent, you have no reason to either panic or fear.
If your life doesn’t reflect a daily anticipation of the return of Jesus, then get right with G_d and fear no more.
With the impending American financial apocalypse, Novosibirsk is looking more and more like a not so bad idea. Who knows? My navy pension might go a long ways!
VOILA !
No more panic.
The Mayans missed it by 45 days or so.
...but the time_t apocalypse is a reality in 2038. I'll be long dead by then so I'm not real worried about any of my applications going back to The Epoch on 32-bit platforms. :-)
