Is this why CIA chief really resigned? Gun running to jihadists could dwarf 'Fast and Furious'...

JERUSALEM – The speculation surrounding the sudden resignation of CIA Chief General David Petraeus is focusing in large part on his role in an alleged cover-up of the attacks against the U.S. mission in Benghazi this past September.

Perhaps overlooked is the CIA’s role in purportedly using the Benghazi mission to coordinate U.S. aid to Syrian opposition groups and information those same insurgents include jihadists openly acting under the al-Qaida umbrella.

One week before he was slated to testify before Congress on the Benghazi debacle, Petraeus on Friday night announced his resignation, citing an extramarital affair, and it was reported he will no longer testify.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., the House Homeland Security Committee chairman, charged in an interview with CNN that Petraeus is “at the center of this, and there are answers that only he has.” King was referring to the Benghazi attacks.

Asked if he will still call for Petraeus testify despite his resignation, Rep. King replied, “Absolutely, to me, he’s an absolutely necessary witness.”

Patraeus resigned at a time when the U.S. intelligence community is facing criticism over both its response to the assault in Benghazi and whether it had early warnings of al-Qaida plans to attack the U.S. mission in that country.

The White House and multiple State Department officials had immediately blamed a crude film about the Islamic figure Mohammad for what they claimed were popular protests that preceded the attacks on the U.S. mission.

According to new, vivid accounts provided by the State Department and intelligence officials, no such popular demonstration took place the night of the attack. Instead, video footage from Benghazi reportedly shows an organized group of armed men attacking the compound, the officials said.

That Benghazi compound is repeatedly referred by the news media to as a “consulate.”

It appears that Benghazi was Obama’s weapons depot for the region. Think Obama is in a pickle now, where would he be if he sent help and his weapon's stash got exposed for the whole world to see? Obama has proclaimed that Assad is going going gone, how could Obama know this with such certainty? Obama is playing cat and mouse with Russia over Syria and the removal of Assad.

Who knows who ended up with Obama’s weapons, but, one thing is for sure whomever ripped off Obama also got all necessary documentation to blackmail him as well.

Knowing from your past postings, as well as can be known, I guess I’m inclined to believe you, sadly...

I always took him for a Patriot, an American first.

Guess the coming days will determine just WHO is a Patriot, and who else is on the dark side...and we may be horrified when we find out how compromised we really are - or not.

This seriously sucks...

The good GEN had quite a fan club here. Those folks have been quiet lately! Some of us grew tired long ago of his water carrying for the kenyan. Now we see it all confirmed. No way he drops a dime on the regime after so much duplicity on his part.

“We need a Congressman to STAND UP OUT OF HIS CHAIR AND SCREAM TO THE RAFTERS, “IT’S THE PEOPLE’S RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED HERE, NOT YOUR RIGHT TO HIDE IT FROM THEM!!!”

IIRC, that is basically what Rep Gowdey said as his closing remarks during the recent House hearings. I believe the YouTube video of his remarks are still on the net. It’s worth hearing them if you haven’t already. He is good!

Wow interesting stuff!

Now that you mention it there were depot rumors of weapons caches. Even that some were buried in the area.We also know that state had 40 million for Stevens to buy back weapons that got into the wrong hands.

I hate not knowing hate surmising after reading two hundred links, sure would be nice if someone in the know would testify.

Didn’t the red flag go up when he ‘retired’ to become head of the CIA replacing panetta who went to defense? What the hell does panetta know about defense?
Did anything at all change after petraeus, the ‘saviour’ of Iraq, was assigned to play hero in Afghanistan and wetnurse to karzai except that the opium output went up over 400% and so did our casualties?
Oh G-D!!! There is SO much more!

I guess we should wait and see what Petraeus has to say.He probably could blow the lid off this entire thing.

Yep. The GEN is still on Team Kenya. His resignation is so perfectly choreographed. Just too cute. That gives it away.

Petraeus doesn’t want to testify. The WH doesn’t want him to testify.

Word is leaking out about the affair. Did Drudge’s cryptic comment last week spook him?

So the GEN decides to announce it himself. Now he will retire to Bora Bora for some family repair counselling. He will be unavailable to testify for MONTHS. Guaranteed.

K.T. McFarland who seems to know Petraeus just commented on Judge Janines show that Petraeus quit so he could testify. I guess we shall see if she was right or not.

Benghazi. The one,who engineered the entire Benghazi op.

In the House hearing, one of the witness, I forget his name said there were 10-20 thousand surface to air missiles missing. Qaddafi had quite a mass of weaponry, I have read that before he was killed there was concern that he might use mustard gas and other chemical weapons. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/gaddafi-could-turn-to-libyas-mustard-gas-stockpile-some-officials-fear/2011/03/16/ABT9iEt_story.html Somebody took control of those weapons when Qaddafi was killed.

I do not remember which mouth said it but one of the excuses given for NOT helping the Americans in Benghazi was concern for civilian deaths. I seriously doubt we in the near future will be told the exact reason why Obama refused to send help.

Yes, yes, that’s what we’ve been told. Not saying anything against them but with all hush-hush we just don’t know. Something is still fishy in that story. If they were going against orders then why were they allowed to go back a second time? Just throwing stuff out there...

I am afraid his credibility is gone if he really was recently sending “thousands” of emails to the woman. They will just leak the contents of a few emails to twist the knife. Got to be some hot NSFW stuff in them. He won’t want that aired on Comedy Central.

A camp romance on the battlefield in Afghanistan is bad. Stalking a crazy #$#@$ while CIA Director is a psychological issue. He’s done if that is accurate. I hope he proves otherwise.

“...Didn’t the red flag go up when he ‘retired’ to become head of the CIA...”

No...actually. Sometimes I have a density factor that amazes me. I grew up in a military family, Army airborne, Pacific Marines. These people are 55 feet tall to me.

I guess I still believe that when you put on the uniform and take the oath, it means something - that maybe somehow, you’re above the dirt and the scum and the lying filth that make up the political world.

Naive? Yeah, maybe a bit...but less and less so every day more that I live. And more and more disappointed and saddened at what the hell is happening to my people and my nation, and the complete lack of balls that “our” side - our elected GOP - displays whenever it comes to dealing with the subversion and outright treasonous actions of the Democrats and the media that covers for them.

I guess I will be amazed if we do get the straight scoop about Benghazi. For me its been a drip, drip, drip phenomena ever since it happened.
Just when you think you know something another drip occurs.
