Yellow Rose of Texas is in the hospital for surgery. The odds are not in her favor, this all I know now. I will post more when I know.

We are all the poorer without her with us.
I checked on another old friend this evening and found that she had passed away when I was out of town earlier this year. She was a true gem and she and her husband were my constant companions back thirty years ago.
Rose was a true one-of-a-kind. She was tireless in rallying the troops.
I will truly miss her.

I’m sorry for your loss Burke.
I remember all those hours in chat when we were going to fix all that ailed this country. 14 years ago now. Seems not all that long ago. And her convoy to DC! I bet basil remembers that only too well.

Back then I remember her having to leave the keyboard to see why her young daughter was running in and out of the house “slamming the screen door” over and over.
Give that now grown daughter our love when you speak to her.

Yes Carlo, another heartache. I hate it too. Passing this news along was one of the hardest things I’ve done in a long long while. Prayers up.

I am so sorry to hear this. She hasn’t been here for a while.
I offer prayers for her docs and nurses. I hope it’s not as dire as you say.
Please...ping me with updates.
She’s a great lady, and I admire her.
Thanks in advance.

Oh yes that darned screen door! Good memory Burke. It will be my pleasure to pass along your love to the now grown and married culprit.

I will always fondly remember Yellow Rose of Texas and the fun we shared during the Chinagate Project. I wrote a little something years ago when another dear friend passed away. I think it is fitting for Yellow Rose of Texas as well.
Tears flow.
Guided by wrinkles
on a weary face.
One after another,
they tickle as
they descend.
Odd, this thought,
that the pain expressed
from a heart torn asunder.
Becomes instead
a tickle of Delight
from a Soul set free.

She's the sweetest little rosebud
That Texas ever knew
Her eyes are bright as diamonds
They sparkle like the dew
You may talk about your Clementine
And sing of Rosalee
But the Yellow Rose of Texas
Is the only girl for me
Heavy-heart condolences for the family and friends of a wonderful long-time freeper. I always looked for her posts....and relished them all.
