From the somewhat guilt filled comforts of Greece, I have been thinking about what I learned from the recent Cairo SHTF experience. I am not putting myself forth as an expert of any sort and, frankly, many or even most items on the list below might be flat out wrong
.who the hell knows. We were in Cairo from Jan 25th until late Feb 3rd when the neighborhood gunfire became full-auto and regularly occurring. At that point, we decided that Friday prayers (the next day) might not yield a pleasant experience. We had no way of knowing that we had already seen the worst.

Ditto.
Keep it up and don't be discouraged by the words of a few.
You're doing good work my friend.
WTF?
If there are threads that offend you - don’t read them. I don’t like reading threads about American Idol...so I don’t.
Why don’t you just stop now and quit digging?
You have completely threadjacked a really good post by Kartographer. Any on-topic discussion is now filled with your many, many posts about being all hurt and concerned about the use of SHTF by the blogger Kartographer posted. THIS GUY WAS THERE, IN A REAL SHTF SITUATION, AND HAS SOME INTERESTING POINTS! It would have been nice if others here could have discussed that without your threadjacking.
Just wow. And that is considerably toned down from what I would like to say.
Ditto on the above post ^. Kartographer does a great job of keeping us up on prepping and I thought this article was good advice!
“When did conservatives start pushing to name movements and themselves to mainstream the word shit into our daily culture? “
Well lets see.. I got into survival in the mid 90s, Am a member of gosh knows how many survival forums and moderate a few of them as well.. and I can tell you from day one, that word has been used to describe an “event” taking place.
I really would not sweat it that much.
I got into survivalism decades before the 90s, we were having a kind of movement in the 1960s, and as you know Backwoods Home (1970) and the FireFox books came along, and the 1980s had some fine magazines.
I have wondered how conservatives lost the culture, it looks like many on our side were driving it.
There seems to be a powerful, angry, insistence, to defend and promote the left’s agenda on the culture issues, by even many on the right, I guess it is hip, and cool now, sophisticated in a Bill Maher sort of way.
If it’s so beneath you, and I take you at your word it is, then you won’t be hanging around any further, eh?
You’re attacking the wrong person, ansell. Kartographer is doing us all a favor by tracking down some great, informative, and instructive posts. He didn’t write any of these articles himself but believes they are of value to the people on the ping list.
Since they are the writings of others, he does not have their permission to edit what they write, since anything, once written, has an understood copywrite. I’m actually a little shocked that you would try to hold him accountable for the writings of others and accuse him of deliberately introducing filthy language?? Really?? You think that Kart is somehow Lord of all the Preppers and coined all these phrases and words??
I’m actually thoroughly tired of this silly discussion.
See post 43.
Thanks for the post and keep ‘em coming. Folks can learn things from your posts and discussions that may be useful when the SHTF.
I like to thank so many for you kind words of support. Not just the post, but the e-mails as well which I got from at least half the 211 members of the Prepper’s Ping List.
Though I had some idea of how many have read and possible benefited from my post, advice and my Preparedness Manual (Close to 15,000 total downloads over the past 2 years) it was a real eye opener reading how many people have found my work useful. My goal has always been is my work could save one family or even one person it would be worth it.
Makes me proud and very much hopeful that should something happen maybe a few more than one family or one person will be saved by my work.
Thank you all. Tonight I feel a little like ‘George Bailey’: No man is poor who has friends.
Thanks Kart...
Lurking’
Goodnight.
Either that, or you're just being a sanctimonious prig.
;o)
It is a culture war, choose which side you will devote your energy to defending and advancing.
Give it up, my friend. If you don’t like the “terms” used on the Prepper threads, then just stay off these threads. It’s that easy.
